For the first time in 30 yrs of spring SF travel, I will be stuck in rain next week. (since I am escaping the PNW due to 295 days / yr of rain)

Any suggestions for fun & free in SF and Oakland areas? I have Muni pass, & I will have a car ($12 from priceline). Staying near Marina District (thanks for previous advice on cheap digs).

Any suggestions appreciated.

Interests are classical music (free rehearsals are nice), architecture, flowers and plants, hands-on (Exploratorium), science, libraries, art, bookstores, and open to any NEW ideas (Don't smoke, drink, or get too excited about kinky stuff) SF is always plenty of fun, but help me find something new

The Arboretum in GG Park, Grace Cathedral.

If you're there on a sunday, the Asian Art Museum is free. DeYoung and SFMOMA will be free next Tuesday (first Tues of each month). The Antique Vibrator Museum. Exploratorium is free on the first wednesday of the month.

You could visit the Cable Car Museum in SF. It has free admission. See San Francisco Cable Car Museum .

Agree with Kodaka. That kept me busy for hours during my husband's convention. Also I do love the Exploratorium. You don't have to be a kid.

During a solo trip, shopping at the Embarcadero kept me pretty busy one morning (you don't even have to buy anything, but I could not resist the Cowgirl Creamery.)

Chinatown, City Lights bookstore, the incredible bar at the Palace and the Palace in general (you could just order a glass of water.)
