When we told BA this on the phone they quite bluntly told us that was for Business Class and if we were willing to pay $6000 per ticket they would happily upgrade them, otherwise sorry your flight is canceled.

Anyone else been snubbed by BA? I for one am hoping this round of flights puts the company out of business, huge disgrace to the British name they have in their companies title.
Did they offer you any flights on alternate airlines or out of alternate airports? According to this article in the London Times they are supposed to be doing that: Q&A: your options during BA strikes -Times Online

No they did not show any interest in helping us in any way, we were initially on hold for 45 minutes then for another 15 while they supposedly looked for other alternatives, in the meantime we found plenty online and after being snubbed by the US rep we booked on US Airways.

We are going to Lisbon in October. Usually we would book BA as we like the flight from Phoenix into London. But we booked this one through Continental for two reasons. First the strike and second to try to stay south of any volcanic ash.

Check out EU Passenger Rights. It may help to know them before having a conversation with BA.

EU FLYER RIGHTS

Ryanair recently got a heavy fine for violating these right.

EU Passenger Rights are great but we are currently in the USA which I am sure BA will happily point out is not part of the EU.

We've already booked with US and to be honest will completely avoid BA in future.

If your flight is into the EU then I think you are probably covered.

But we are doing the same. Hence our choice of Continental to fly to Lisbon next October.
