One thing you will find familiar here is that the drivers here are only slightly less suicidally stupid than Florida drivers (the very worst I have seen in my American travels). Ours aren't mean, just terminally airheaded; it doesn't occur to them that there are other vehicles on the road. Someone used to driving in a state full of elderly people whose necks don't move well enough to look left or right will be well prepared for our roads; if you survived Florida you should survive here. Good news!

While Florida was the scariest driving experience I had ever experienced in the United States, Tri-Cities is nearly as scary. It's terrifying to realize that people simply are not considering that your vehicle might be present, and just doing whatever they feel the need to at the time. Be really careful in parking lots, where a vehicle could come directly at you at any time from any azimuth, simply because its operator presumes that no one else could possibly be wanting to navigate the parking lot, thus they can do whatever they wish without looking either left or right. Someone looks like they might pull out in front of you, even though doing so would be functionally retarded? Assume they will, and poise over the brake. It has saved me from several accidents. Presume idiocy and live. Presume common sense and get T-boned.

Florida: they tailgate because they are offended at the presence of you in front of them, and are venting the frustration of Florida life on you at the moment.

Tri-Cities: they tailgate because since you don't actually exist, tailgating isn't possible and there is no foul committed.
