My son's AAU basketball team didn't participate last year and probably won't this year. I am looking for a team for him. We live in Richland. He is 6'3", 150, 8th grade. I have contacted AAU and have been told I am on my own to find him a team. They don't help players find teams. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for any help.

Is he playing for his middle school? That might be the best place to find contacts for AAU basketball. Also, you can try the High School. My daughter plays at Hanford and I know they do AAU during the off-season so coaches at those schools might know people who run younger teams.

Yes, and there is no luck there either. The other boys on the team don't plan on playing AAU this year and no one knows of a coach that is planning on putting a team together.

Is your son going to be going to Richland or Hanford? If he is going to Hanford next year I can have my daughter ask about AAU teams for when the basketball season is done.

Ask the high school BB coach of the high school that he will be attending. They'll know about what teams there are and will also know who does a good job and who doesn't. They probably won't come out and say that "so-and-so isn't any good" but you'll be able to figure it out.
Send the coach and email--their school website will have a contact list for staff there.
