Default Icefox update?

icefox - How is your move to the Tri-Cities progressing? I am expecting a job offer and was wondering about your experience in relocating. Do you have any concern about the Hanford pollution issue? Any good experiences with realtors? I'd love to hear what you've learned.

I am also interested. We currently live in the "high desert" in California. Summers can get to 115* and winters can snow. Elevation is 3400ft. ASL. Crime here is on the increase. Just bought our second house here. This one is brand new 10/2005. I hear you talk about crime there. Are there any upper class areas in the tri-city? I checked the crime report which showed 3's and 4's for your area. We live in a 5 area now. Wasn't this way years ago. Any information would be great

Ps. The name is my German Shepherd's name (purebreed)

Hey Skout...sounds like you live in Yucca!

If you are interested in the upper scale end of the tri-cities, check out West Richland. Really nice. And the desert there is MUCH nicer than anything you will see between Palm Springs and Hisperia/Barstow! And the people are much nicer. I lived in the Palm Springs area (La Quinta) for years and now am in Western WA. I love the weather and the green but if I ever get tired of the "wet" I will go to TC before I ever went back to the So Ca Desert!

Oh My! Apple Valley is beautiful! I am not sure if you could compare the tri-cities to that. Have you ever been there? Maybe you should do a trip before you do move. You don't have the trees in the Tri-Cities that you have in Apple Valley. I can't believe that crime is on the increase up there. That makes me sad. And you can't compare Yucca to AV... Yucca and Morongo has tons of crime! Or I HOPE you can't compare it.

I loved going to AV to the shops and festivals they had there. Tri-Cities are more wide open... My favorite area is Along the Water in Richland or West Richland where they are doing the new building. Along the water is older homes and very quaint! If I moved there, that is where I would buy. Right now I am in Western Wa... And I love it because of all the green!! And I love the weather. But only been her just under a year. Not sure how I will feel in 5 years of this weather..that remains to be seen.

I got a decent education at KeHS, but I don't know if I would classify it as the best in the state. If I had put more in to it, I probably would have gotten more out of it. The schools are (or were) safe, though, no huge gangs of bandits running around. About W. Richland, it is affordable, but sketchy. I worked for Mosquito Control out there, and there is a larger amount of meth and marijuana than I have seen in other TC areas. Good luck.

Not that it matters any...I grew up for a very short time in kennewick and now 20+ years later am trying to duplicate that same time I had for my daughters in the carolinas...I dont know what the correct path on schools was..but at that time 1984 Kamiakan High school was literally the BEST high school along with Hannford (sp?) in the state...again this was 20 years ago..but my folks but in the area..I just remember that we were really close to the mall..and I went to desert hills middle school, then I would have gone to kamiakan..and the elementry school was at that time brand new as well.

Ironically the ONLY friends that I have trully kept in touch with who even attended weddings and such were my friends from kennewick..I dont know how things may have changed..but looking back...had my folks not taking a job relocation to california..that would have been the best place to live....

sunset view elementry..that was it....it was brand new and at the time of course..was considered to be the most advanced.
