Moving to Tri-cities
My family and I are potentially moving to Tri-cities (Richland) area for my husband's work. We have never lived anywhere near Washington. We would love any info about the area, especially schools. we have two kids, one in middle school and one in elementary. We have no family or friends in the area, so everything you can share would be great.
Thanks a lot!

I have family in the process of moving to the tri cities. If you are going to live in Richland I suggest West Richland. They have some new and nice areas going in. It is really affordable in the tri cities. If you like the older homes, anything in Richland by the water is great. The homes are older but kept up very nicely.
Good luck with your move.

West Kennewick is decent but stay clear of the old down town and east of there as it is "IFFY." I don't know much about the schools... sorry. If you look in Kennewick. look near the Mall area and west. That is a nicer area and fairly reasonable, Price wise. I have a brother in law in the Pasco PD and he told us where to look for my aunt. But then she has no small kids. With in the 3 cities, think West Side... of each. If you need a name of a realtor who is a decent guy... let me know. We met several and found this one guy to be really helpful and fair.

Hi, I live in the Tri Cities (Kennewick). I've lived here for almost 7 years now. I dont know a whole lot about the schools yet (my oldest is 4). But if you have any other questions feel free to email me. My husband has lived here all his life and knows a lot about the areas, and he knows more about what school districts are decent and stuff (well, at least for Kennewick...not sure about Richland and Pasco). But anything you want to know, I am sure I can find out for you!

We moved to Kennewick 2 years ago. We live in west Kennewick. Nice place. Good roads etc. But my son just got out of the hospital, KGH (excellent care) for asthma. I asked every nurse, pulmonary specialist etc. that I came in contact with in the hospital and they all said that the dirty, dry, wind, and dry cool air here are big factors for asthma. There is also a saying here that if you have never had allergy/asthma problems you will after you move here. Also, check out the toxic releases data at city data. This info didn't even pop up on another city check that I made.

I live in Kennewick
Hi I've lived in Kennewick ALL my 37 years. I know all about the schools and the area. Another poster mentioned allergies. It's true, many people develop allergies due to the dry conditions, it is a desert.
I don't know what kind of schools you're looking for, but I would avoid anything in East Kennewick and East Pasco. They tend to be lower income families and have more drug and gang problems than others. I try not to judge, but that seems to be the way it is. Anything West of 395 highway is good.
Richland doesn't really have any bad schools, but if you have a choice I would avoid Hanford High. They tend to have more problems. Hope this helps.
