Default Tri-Cities Washington Job Market

Can anybody give me information on what the job market is really like in Tri-Cities?? I have looked up info on the internet and I see a lot of job openings, but that does not always mean the job market is good. I want to know the opinion of somene who lives in Tri-Cities and has experienced the job market there. Thank you in advance for any help.

I can tell you in 1 word: EXCELLENT. This obviously depends on your field, if you're an engineer, business person, or scientist of some kind, you will be pleasantly surprised. Even outside of those areas listed, the job market is good in the TC. The area has been growing constantly and every time I go home to visit I see new housing developments, restaurants and stores. If you don't mind the desert climate, you'll love the TC. Good luck.

South Kennewick (canyon lakes area), south Richland near mormon temple, and you can get really affordable new developments in west Pasco. Just my 2 cents. Also, badger canyon (kennewick) is very desireable and prices are going through the roof for land/houses.

Thanks for the response kdizzle. I am not sure what to expect of the Tri-Cities because it seems somewhat isolated. I really appreciate your input, Thanks!

Default Tricities weather

Take a look at this webcam during the day, it might change your mind its cloudly/foggy/wet and cold like this for most of the winter in the columbia basin...2 or 3 months

Oh yes and hot/humid for most the summer... really only 6 or 7 weeks of comfortable weather in the spring and fall.

I lived there most of my life...40+ years and its not a great place to live anymore in my opinion.

Honestly, I don't understand where these humidity comments keep popping up about the TC. It is a desert. Conclusion: VERY DRY. Maybe if you live directly on/near the river, it may be a little more humid, but still nothing like most places in the US, IMO. Go visit in the summer and judge for yourself.

Default Humid?

Humid??? Unless you're comparing TC to the Mojave, that is a completely ludicrous statement. The winters are really nice what with the Chinook winds chasing the snow away. Humid?

I agree where does the humid come from? I lived off of Canal Drive. Grew up there played along the railroad tracks and was at Columbia park almost daily.
Only when the park would flood over would the humidty be up, gave us kids the oppurtunity to go down and do some frog giggin.
I also was a participant in the Lagoon makeover creating a great fishing arena. Spent many a day there running a loader scooping the muck out of the bottom.
So if ya want keep saying its humid keep the population down. But its not really true at all.
Just my 3 cents

I lived here 40+ years, go check out www.wunderground.com type in 99352 and look at the humidity on a daily basis you'll notice today its over 80%, where do you think all the fog, freezing fog, icy roads comes from???? How about those inversions? I noticed the last one lasted 2 1/2 weeks. Then in the summer its so humid that you really can't be out in it most of the summer. Cold goes right through you too. Just take notice this summer how much you like being outside. I lived in Atlanta and its not quite that humid but I notice it now where i didn't before.

When i was a kid you couldn't make a snowball in TC it was like powder, and the grass turned brown. Grass stays mostly green the whole winter now and when it does snow its wet and heavy. It was dry there in the 60s and 70s. I have talked with many other people in TC and they all agree.

Not to mention the stagnate air warnings that trap in the cold.. we just had one for a full week... and all that car exhaust trapped. Yeah this aint LA but its not good. I spend alot of time in NW Wyoming now and its so dry here you can be in short sleeves when its 45 and the sun is out (which is partially because your closer to the sun)...just depends on where you've lived.

I'm not trying to argumentative, just an observation over the last 15-20 years.
