We have few more stores like Staple, Kohls, and Sonic, plus the Mall is bigger.
The Blue Bridge averages 60,000 cars a day which averages into 1 or 2 accidents a week.
Other than that, you're looking at basically the same place.
I recently talked with someone from Yak and he told me that the economy is in a downhill spiral.
Thats not the case here, as it seem that they are building everywhere simultaneously. I think their motto is "You can run but you cannot hide."
You wont get a huge, huge difference though

Well, I guess if it has a Panda Express, that changes everything.

According to the US Census Bureau
Annual Estimates of the Population of Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas
Yakima Metropolitan Statistical Area, July 2007: 233,062, a growth of 4.7% since April, 2001.
Kennewick-Richland-Pasco Metropolitan Statistical Area, July 2007: 228,992, a growth of 19.4% since April, 2001.
So they are about the same in size right now with Tri-cities growing faster.
I prefer Tri-cities, it seems cleaner and the growth is obvious everywhere you go. And the river and parks that go along with it add a lot to the feel of the area. The only thing missing for me is a nice, established downtown area, like what they have in Walla Walla.

Honestly. Both Yakima and Tri-Cities are pretty similar. I think Yakima is much older and had a head start but lately the Tri-Cities has been experiencing a lot of growth and has been catching up and will eventually pass Yakima.

Interesting that one of the first points of comparison lies in commercialism level: not merely basic goods availability, but who has this or that chain restaurant or retail chain store, or relative mall size.

Not that Sonic will make or break a moving deal, Yakima is getting a Sonic (and Panda Express) on 1st.

Yakima needs to take the "Palm Springs of the NW" sign down before they get sued by Palm Springs. My wife and I frequent PS and it is slander against PS! Yakima is nowhere near as nice and sophisticated as PS! We just laugh when we see that sign it is so absurd!

When your town is bragging about putting in chain fast-food restaurants, that pretty much says it all.
Yakima of course feels more like a city because it is one city with a centralized downtown. But I wouldn't go bragging about that downtown.
Tri-Cities has its flaws, that's for sure, but so does Yakima. It's a little silly to try to talk either of them up as if they are these huge thriving hip places to live...

Oh My God
You want to know the honest truth? Both Tri Cities and Yakima are small, small towns.
Honestly. I dont even consider Spokane big. That is why I am leaving for Seattle (or anywhere for that matter) real soon
You can keep your Sonic on 1st street
