Tri-cities V. Yakima
I'm living in Yakima right now, but I'm looking for a change of environment.
I was looking at Tri-cities for a few reasons, but it kind of seems like Tri-cities is just a bigger version of Yakima. Admittedly I haven't spent very much time in Tri-Cities, so I could be way off.
Anyone out there lived in both Yakima and Tri-cities? Is there any difference really other than a few more options for shopping and eating out?

That actually was of no help and didn't answer my question at all.

Granted, the thread didn't mention Yakima. I thought you would draw your own conclusions from it, like I did.

I would say similar between the two locations, the weather here is alittle hotter in the summer....than Yakima....and Tricities is becoming more and more populated, and haven't been in yak for awhile, but some of the idiot drivers here need to open their eyes when they drive....almost daily some a** pulls out in front of me, and turn signals, so many here turn without any signals...and are close to accidents..
You also may want to check with the local police...on the crime in Tricities, East Kennewick and East Pasco is a definate location you may not want to own property or even rent....crime is on the increase along with some drug activity....not that anywhere else is much better....I was told when I first moved here, don't need to lock your doors...ha ha.....that's no longer...and that sucks...punks and crooks....alike......ruin it for the good americans....

They are basically the same. TC has more stores but Yakima gets more attention and draws more in terms of cultural events.

I'm pretty sure that Yakima has more crime than the Tri-Cities, especially in the gang department.

Tri-Cities is growing, big time! But, Yakima is growing too...we had a 15% population increase last year, which is huge. West Pasco is developing rapidly and Kennewick has a lot of ammenities. TC as the same stuff as Yakima, but a few more box stores, fast food, and other various retailers that Yakima doesn't have, i.e. Sportsman's Warehouse. Their mall is definately better too.
As far as events, the boat races and the speedway bring in the most crowd. I do agree, Yakima has many more events and cultural activities. Yakima also has greater industry strength.
TC has less crime, but that's not a good comparison since most of Yakima's crime comes from a 10 block radius on the east side. TC has a mix of rich Californians and country folk. That's the best way to describe it. Pasco (not West Pasco) is mainly hispanic. I'm pretty familiar with TC and wouldn't mind living there, if I had to, but prefer Yakima. Mainly, because I love the outdoors and TC doesn't have anything to offer in that arena.

What outdoor activities are you refering to?? Last time I drove thru that area it didn't seem like there was much difference.

TC has a population of 170,000 while Yak has 80,000
We have few more stores like Staple, Kohls, and Sonic, plus the Mall is bigger.
The Blue Bridge averages 60,000 cars a day which averages into 1 or 2 accidents a week.
Other than that, you're looking at basically the same place.
I recently talked with someone from Yak and he told me that the economy is in a downhill spiral.
Thats not the case here, as it seem that they are building everywhere simultaneously. I think their motto is "You can run but you cannot hide."
You wont get a huge, huge difference though
