My husband and I are thinking about relocating to Richland, WA from Portland, Oregon. We have been to the area to visit 2 different times for 2 different interviews he has had. We have looked at a few new home builders but have not decided on the best area for us. What area's of the tri-cities are best to live in? So far we like Richland (south area) or West Richland. We are 20-somethings who enjoy all outdoor activities and would like to be close to hiking trails/areas we can go out with our dog.
We will be purchasing a home if we decide to relocate but might need to rent if we choose to build a home there. Any ideas on good short term rentals (that accept pets?)
So far we like the area but what are your likes/dislikes? Anyone relocated from Portland? We are amazed by the low prices of housing compared to the Portland area. We bought our small townhome in Portland for the price of most large single family homes in tri-cities area!!

First, the cost of living in the Tri Cities is the "best" in the state per recent polls..We used to live on the west side of the state south of Seattle, population and home prices are similar to that of Portland, Oregon. The larger cities normally have more job opportunities, such as Seattle, but than again the price of houses and cost of living are higher as well than that of a location the size of the Tri Cities. It is not a Seattle or Portland by far, but has all the accomodations and comforts of a large city location between the 4 cities that makeup TriCities. Your choices are good selections within Richland, another you may want to look into is the Horn Rapids area, the planned Golf Course community in North Richland, you have the option to select a home design from one of the builders @ this location. We checked out the different cities and chose Richland, looked at houses in most locations before making the selection and talking to others about all the cities, including crime levels. Good luck hope I was able to help.. Don't have any info on apartments, purchased a house initially.

Welcome to Horn Rapids…a desert oasis golf community.
