*Moonwaffle* That makes sense! At least Seattle and Portland are close.....it is just an adjustment to not have great restaurants/martini bars, etc. right down the street from my house! BUT that will be good for the budget!

Forgot to mention Tri-Teriyaki, in the little Flattop strip mall in West. Really good oriental/Korean food.

Couple that I have not tried, Avocado Grill near the West Richland Yokes, and Bella Deli (something like that) in Benton City.

For that matter, what about Shadow Mountain Grill and Tumbleweed Cafe in Benton City? I have found them both to be good. Tumbleweed particularly good for breakfast.

For burgers, you can't beat Zip's. They are a small eastern WA chain, like Burgerville in the Portland area.

A Belly Buster, tub of fries (with tartar sauce, not ketchup) and a soda is all you need.

Great burgers and a good price.

Wow! I stumbled across this forum looking for just the same thing.

I can heartily recommend Sushi Mori near Costco. Fast service, good sushi, and the staff are always nice.

For breakfast, we've tried McGill's once and it was pretty good. I'd like to try them again. We also hit Hill's Restaurant every so often. I used to get claustrophobic in there but now we sit at the counter and I'm fine (it's also faster service!)

Thai Spice and Inca are by far our favourites of the local eateries. I'll be checking out some of the other rec's on this list though.

I suppose after my comments that I should put some of my favorites down as well:

Sushi - Sushi Mori is my favorite though it will pale to anything in Seattle or Portland.

Thai - Mezzo Thai on Canal (I think it may have a new name now) Again, decent Thai food, but not as good as what is found in the big cities.

Indian - India Palace is very good and authentic. 3 stars. I'd say this is up there with the best Indian food I've had anywhere.

Mexican - I always prefered Inca and the little hole Chapala Express in Richland. Mexican food is FABULOUS in the Tri-Cities and better than anywhere I ever tried in Seattle or Portland.

Chinese - I can't recommend a non-chain here...only P.F.Changs. Sorry.

Italian - Bella Italia; very good and authentic and their new building is fabulous.

Steak & Seafood - Tagaris. Incredible atmosphere, presentation, service, and very good food. Outstanding wine selection as well. This is a restaurant worth the drive from anywhere.

I don't eat burgers/fast food so I can't comment on any non-chain restaurants that serve this type of food.

I think if you lived where I live all these places sound like heaven. I am so glad to hear that Mexican food is fantastic there. I havent had good Mexican in 5 yrs. I am thrilled that there is good Indian so my husband doesnt have to deal with the withdrawls that I have had to endure. Indian is the British Mexican. Good food is hard to come by in my neck of the woods.

So what are the prices now? How much do you pay for a good Mexican or a Pizza or what not? We had a medicore meal in a pub last night and it was around $60. Just a basic meal, nothing special.

My wife and I can easily get out of Cinco de Mayo (on Clearwater, by far our favorite) for $25 before tip.

Ok, I need to just take the plunge and check this out. I've been hesitant to try Indian in this area but it's time to change that.

As for Chinese, I'll offer Shang Hi as being the best that I've tried in this town. I really missed Chinese food when I first moved here and this is the only place that I will ever go to again.

Slightly off topic but what about the little Bella deli that just opened or is just about to open there in Benton City?

Anybody tried it?

I drive past there twice a day & really need to just stop and check it out. I'll try to do so this week.
