Yea, we've been to different countries in Europe, and there is nothing like home, meaning US of A...Olive Garden is awsome....still have all you can eat salads and bread with your meals...

Humidity is very low....living in the dry desert environment...it's nice and hot here, which is nice, just use appropriate skin protections and ensure you have a home with central air...

Your going to find a lot of brit's here, leftovers from BNFL and/or Bechtel transplants. Most of them went native (bought large dodge trucks, a few acres, and a hat) but they'r around. Most of the eateries suck - you have to go dive hopping to find the few good ones. Either get a house with a pool (every other home here) or think about getting a runabout for the rivers.

Your old man is gonna be the one getting the culture shock then.

But there ought to be enough work for him if he is a competent tiler, he needs an intro or two into the local construction trades.

Tell him (or better yet take him) to find a bar called the Tin Hat (425 E. Bruneau) over behind the Blue Bridge in Kennewick, that is where a bunch the carpenter/mason/housebuilding crew hung out when I lived there and where they picked up people for work. And they will know who is looking, if none of them need him. Investing in a couple pichers there at the right time might be well worth his money.

Of course being a Brit he will likely have to prove himself to the satisfaction of the locals, but he likely knows the drill.
