Red face New to Tri Cities

My family and I moved to Kennewick 3 weeks ago, My daughter finally got to start H.S. a couple of day ago, She isn't very happy right now, missing friends etc... wants to go home. Does anyone have any advice for getting her involved in something that will give her "A Life". She is a nice, fun, good girl. Also, if you have Teen agers, remind them to be friendly to the new kids, it's hard moving when your are 14, or 16. We live in a very nice area and she is going to a good school. Thank for any help.

Relocated46.

I'm not sure what your teenager is "into". But that area is rural enought that they might have 4H or FFA, both organizations are great and have a lot to offer for a variety of constructive activities. Some chapters depending on locations specialize in different activites.

Yes they are both agricultural based but you would be surprised at some of the activities they have.

Thank you, I had forgotten about these choices. FFA was actually a big deal in the California town we lived in previously. My kids weren't in it but hey it's worth checking out.

You might consider your church if you attend. Seems that a lot of the kids are involved there. Check out the Y in the area.

Which of the 3 cities did you end up in? I have a friend that just put a bid on a house in West Pasco... an nice and up and coming area.

You should get her to go out for a sport or something in the spring. I found that to be the best way to meet people when you're that age. Maybe volleyball or dance or something.

Thanks to all for advice, I am trying to get my daughter to check out a dance studio as she danced for 13 years. She switched over to Water Polo and swimming in H.S. If anyone knows anything about Water Polo in the Tri Cities I would greatly appreciate the info as my 14 year old son is also into it. I have tried to find something on line but came up empty. Someone told him that there is a club in Richland but he can't remember who told him or what the name of it was.
