how many loyal Huskies have we here?
For my fellow Dawgs, do any of you have a place you like to go to watch games? The opener is against Oregon on 8/30, and it's a huge game on many levels. I have followed the media coverage and we can expect some of our highly touted recruits to play that night. After watching their Youtube highlights I'm eager to see what they can do.
Anyone got plans?

Oh, and the Huskies don't have a chance against the Ducks in Autzen.

Heh. I've lived here since 1997. If I did not by now gather that I was living behind enemy lines, I would be a very unperceptive person who never left the house. But it's all the more reason for loyal Huskies to stick together around here.
We are not favored against the D*cks, but I'm gratified to see that they are as quacky as always. It would be a dark day for Pac tradition if D*cks ever changed, because then beating them would become so much less satisfying (and we need to get back to doing that). It is much easier to root against Oregon than WSU, because Cougs have more redeeming qualities. Definitely always root for WSU to beat Oregon. But then again if the University of Pyongyang came to Eugene, I'd show up with a big picture of the Dear Leader Kim Jong Il.
As for myself, I'll go to the local UWAA chapter's gathering at Kimo's. I think the game is at 7 on Saturday night. I don't know if they are having any other get-togethers this year, which is one reason I thought I'd ask if there was anywhere that the local Dawgs congregated. So gamehog9, if you care to come, look for a heavy-bearded guy among a bunch of people in purple and say hi. I am confident that no one will be checking UWAA membership cards, or would care either way. Purple gear IS your card.
Any way you look at it, it's great to have college football back, and to have the good-natured banter that goes with rivalries.

I reckon they have to play the football game on the field to find out. I remember a dark day in '85 or so when Oregon State, whose usual record could be expressed in Base 2, came up to UW (at that time a mighty powerhouse who regularly beat the bloody stuffing out of everyone). They edged us by one point. If anyone'd have told us beforehand it would occur, there would have been much scoffing at their expense. And yet it happened.
Should be a fun game. First game of the season, bring the hated rivals, packed stadium, true frosh making errors...I bet it'll be wild. At least I'll be among my own.

Trust me, there's one. The scoffs I field from the Cougar majority (including most of my baseball team for five years, those Visigoths) are far superior to the contempt they would exhibit if I apostasized.
