That would be a total non-issue. Mormons attending the temple are not out to recruit anybody, and full-time missionaries can be found in every state the the U.S., so if they're going to find you, they're going to find you. The areas near temples are no more likely to have missionaries in them than any other areas.

Noise would DEFINITELY NOT be an issue. You can trust me on that.

I don't live next to a temple, (here in Idaho) but I do live in what I call Mormonville. My neighborhood is probably 99.2 percent Mormons and I live in a Mormon town, with a Mormon city next to me. Here is what I think. It is difficult to raise kids in a Mormon area because their kids are not allowed to play with "other" kids. The teachers are all Mormons. They "tolerate" us non-Mormons; but they tolerate quite well. They are nice, clean living people for the most part - all areas have their back sliders and this area has their share as well. The Temple isn't where they go to church on a weekly basis. Those are called Wards and Stakes. The Temple is where they have marriages and do baptisms for the dead (they turn non-Mormons into Mormons after they are dead). So it should be relatively quiet and the lawns could possibly be a great place to have a BBQ.

FYI, if your not a Mormon either dead and or alive you can't be in the Temple.

I hope that's not true everywhere. I find that's more something you find in a highly dense LDS population. It becomes cultural not religious.

I spent most of my life near Spokane and I had a lot of "other" friends. I think us Mormons tend to have more friends of our faith because you make friends where you socialize and we do that at church.

I live in Utah now and I see that situation more often. We are thinking of moving to Richland because of a great Job opportunity and I know I'll find great people and neighborhoods there, Mormons and non-Mormons alike.

You'll find Richland to be somewhere between Utah and Spokane as far as the concentration of Mormons. There are at least 4 stakes in the tri-cities. I've heard an estimate of 10% LDS. Your kids won't be the only members in their classes at school but thier social circle won't all be made up of the kids they see in primary or YM/YW on sunday.
