Default Music in Tri-Cities

If you haven't figured it out yet - Bajagirl and her man are moving to the Tri-Cities. It is strange to pick up everything you own and move to another state. We have lived here in SE Idaho for .... forever! My SDB has been here his entire life. But times - they are a changing and we are blowing in the wind to the Tri-Cities.

There is so much we are going to miss, friends, family, our favorite radio station, the places we do our shopping, and go out to dinner, and places we go to hang out with friends to have a glass of wine or an ice cold beer. It will be a whole different world we are going to.

So my question is this - where do y'all go to hang out with the friends on a Friday night after work? Is there any place that features the locals strumming their guitars, singing the blues? I'd really like to know.

Thanks again!

Far as I know, there isn't one. The only music I ever hear around here is when some teenager or mullethead is blasting his car stereo. The Kennewick PD, having solved all other crimes in the city and made future violent/property crimes impossible, has now begun to crack down on cars whose music can be heard too far away.

Dax's is part of a small local chain or cooperative of bars that do have live music on weekends, occasionally there is a recital of classical or folk music at Battelle Auditorium and these are generally open to the public, there is Camerata Musica ensemble. About a year or two ago there was "Ivory Jazz" club in downtown Kennewick, but they closed. Sometimes one of the wineries will have a concert.

The live music scene here is pretty bleak, really.

There is always live music somewhere on the weekends. Many of the bars bring in bands, wineries as well.

The Entertainer newspaper has a good listing of music events: The Entertainer Newspaper

You can even view the current issue online or pick one up around town. The Tri-City Herald will list events as well.

CBC has free concerts all of the time.

CBC Winter Jazz Nite
Thursday, June 11, 7:30 PM
CBC Theatre

CBC Winter Choral/Orchestra Concert
Tuesday, June 16, 7:30 PM
CBC Theatre

Bookwalter Winery in South Richland has live music (mostly jazz) every Wed-Sat nights. In the summer, the music is outside on the patio and its really nice. Inside during the colder months. I think the wine bar Cafe Vino? on Keene Rd has live music on the weekends as well.

Heh, funny. I lived in East Idaho for the last 5 years and just moved to Tri-Cities about a year ago. You'll miss your favorite radio station.. was that station Z103? I used to work there and miss it, too.

Friday nights, the place to be is a place in Pasco called the Out and About. It's like the "Green T" in Pocatello, only this place is packed all the time and a DJ who actually mixes and not just plays songs.

Any other questions, let me know

John Riggs

Bomber Boy - thanks! I will for sure check that out. I would love a nice place to sit outside, drink a glass or two and listen to Jazz! Oh yeah!

Tcres - thanks for the link - I'll pick one of those up when I get there.

John! Nice to "meet" you! And thanks for the Info. I'll look this up when I get there and check them out. So, compared to here - how do you compare TC? I think it is going to be awesome - I have moved around all my life, but been "stuck" here for 37 years. I was born in D.C., at 6 weeks moved to Yokahama, Japan, then Pensacola, Florida, then Tokyo, Japan, SLC, Charleston, S.C., Kaneohe, Hawaii then Idaho Falls - so I'm excited to make the move and am ready for a new adventure.

We have a cabin up in Island Park and the radio station I listen to there is out of West Yellowstone. They play a lot of bluesy rock stuff and off the wall type music, they actually call it Classic Oldies. I think it is KWYS. Anyway, in IF I like 103 - my "boyfriend" and his friend started Z103 some 25 or so years ago. If you know IF, their offices were in that ROCK HOUSE on Woodruff next to the high school. I like a little country 99.1, and classic rock 107. I like a lot of different stuff. In TC I have found the Jazz 101 station and love that!

John - are you older than 50? If so - you probably know my husband...he is an Idaho boy and knows everyone here. Are you from Poky?
