We have Verizon DSL (part of a bundle with Direct TV and phone service) since October and have had no problems with service or speed. I had to call for customer service with my bill (a direct tv question) once and got right through to a person and got the issue resolved in about 2 minutes.

Mine in Kennewick is very spotty and overpriced for what I get. If it weren't a hassle to switch, I'd fire them.

I live in West Richland and we have Verizon internet and Verizon wireless phones. I had problems in the beginning when this rented house I have only has one phone line coming in so the phone and the internet were on the same line - I removed the home phone and it has been good since. It's not fast as I am used to with cable which is lickity split, but it gets the job done the majority of the time. The wireless sucks..we sometimes can't make calls from inside our house and have to go outside. Since we don't have an inside phone, we would like to use our cells for that...but it doesn't work most of the time. That's bird hill for ya.

We live near Safeway in Richland, and had Verizon DSL for ~1 year ('06-'07) before we (along with everybody else in the neighborhood) dumped them. They admitted we were on the fringe of their service area, but resetting the modem 4-10 times a day was for the birds. Even one of their technicians (on one of MANY service calls) told us that co-ax cable was better than phone lines for Internet access. He said that during the '70s and '80s the phone companies experimented with how little copper they could put in the wire and how thin they could make it and still deliver reliable voice service. Then the Internet came along and they are still trying to catch up, replacing all that line with better quality stuff. Don't know if it's true, but makes some sense if you look at the two different lines.

Just my 2¢
