When I did my time in the the Tri-Cities in the 90's that is what I remember. Wal-Mart was just coming in, and had limited groceries at the time. Few shopped for groceries at Wal-Mart then. I assume it now a super-Wal-Mart with a complete grocery. Back then, I preferred Safeway on Ken. Ave.

I remember Waremart on the corner of Clearwater and Morain and, I was never sure if Waremart did move to Clearwater or if they've changed it to Win-CO by the time they've moved it to Clearwater, I also remember the old Wal-Mart on Canal Drive, is the old Wal-Mart now Burlington Coat Factory, didn't the Price Chopper on Canal Drive later move to its location on Columbia Center Blvd? Buttrey's did become Albertson's

I dimly remember Winco on Clearwater as Waremart when we first moved here.
The old Wal-Mart on Canal is now part mediocre but huge Chinese buffet and part deceased GI Joe's outdoors store. It sat empty a long time. I think the Burlington Coat Factory on Canal is the former K-Mart, but I'm not positive.
I still can't believe Richland let them build a Winco right by the freeway. Let's see. Golf course, scenic area, the showpiece area of your city for people passing through: let's build a crappy shopping area there. I always thought frankly that was a perfect place for the convention center, not right in the middle of Kennewick where someone later had to remind them 'oh, you also need a couple hotels'.

Is that the building the school district just bought for their new headquarters with the recent bond measure (he said, carefully keeping his temper)? Right near a Catholic school and some car parts places and the Booger Ranch? Not far from Highland?

To be clear, Food Pavillion has closed most of their eastern WA stores, but they are alive and well on the Coast.
The Food Depot (essentially the sameas Food Pavillion) in Prosser is still open, as are a few other stores in small towns in the East.
Apparently they came up with a plan to move into the Tri-City and Yakima areas, and it didn't work out.
