Businesses closing down?
Been living in Richland for 2 weeks. I seem to notice quite a few businesses that have shutdown (Circuit City and Club Paradise are a big 2 for me). I'm only 23 so I still like going out to the nightclubs and attending events but it seems like nothing is really happening and places are just shutting down. I am also a fan of Circuit City since I am in IT and was a good place to buy stuff for work. Is that normal for the area or is it just because of the economy?

I think this is just because you happened to like those 2 particular businesses.
Circuit City had overall global corporate issues, maybe the local store was actually making money - in any case Best Buy has about the same merchandise.
Club Paradise for whatever reason ended up with a clientale that attracted the attention of the local gendarmes by brawling, etc. if I remember right.
Lot of other businesses are thriving around here.
You are right that the overall US and world economy is not as good as it was a few years ago though.

Someone was saying lately that every time a new place opens up, people don't know how to handle it and it only takes one person acting stupid, fighting, or a drug deal to get it shut down. I bet that's what happens around here... so I heard.
Downtown kennewick is full of empty buildings.

True, and then those people ruin it for everyone else. Are there any other good electronics stores besides Best Buy?
Also are there any decent nightclubs?

Circuit City filed for bankruptcy and all of the stores have since closed. This has nothing to do with the Tri-Cities or even that individual store. I imagine it was making money because when Circuit City first filed for bankruptcy and closed a good number of stores nationwide the one in Richland remained open.
As far as Club Paradise... the name was deceiving.

Here in California Circuit City and Good Guys went bankrupt a while ago. Mervlyns also is gone. High un-employment here and inflated prices for anything related to cost of living, housing, and transportation.
