Default Apartments near Tri-Cities regional airport, help.

Howdy y'all,

In February of next of year (a few months from now) I will be moving to go work at the Tri-Cities regional airport. Right now I live in Auburn, WA and I've actually never been that far east in the state before.

What I wanted to ask was if anyone knows of any good apartments near the airport? I don't mind having to drive a little bit (30-40min or so) to get to work, but I have to work there for probably about 1year or so. Then I'll either move away back west closer to family or if I really like it there I might just stay

Well, I don't know how anything about the neighborhoods, people, city, or anything like that over there. Could anyone recommend a good place to stay down for a year or so?

Oh and I'm just a single guy so this isn't like a family thing or anything. Although, I would still want a good neighborhood and such. Who knows, it might turn into a family thing when I get there I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Any advice would be great. Asking online is a lot better than driving there from Auburn just to scout apartments and safe neighborhoods.

If you're driving 30-40 mins to work you're no longer in the Tri-Cities. haha

I would suggest looking at the apartments near Rd 68 and Rd 100. Would be about a 5 minute drive to the airport. They are all relatively new as well.

Since the area isn't big, be sure to check all three towns out--although it's tough to tell when you've left one and entered another...I'm not saying anything against Pasco, it's just that the area is not some big urban area where it's real difficult to get around.
tcres is right a 30-40 minute drive would put you in another state or in the desert or another town, but not TC!

You might look around Burbank as well, smaller town on the eastern edge of Pasco.

Offhand unless you particularly like some place in Kennewick or Richland, I would stay with Pasco or Burbank, just to avoid what traffic we have here. When there are traffic problems, it's almost always one of the bridges between the individual towns.

Unless you are dead-set on an apartment rather than a house, there are houses to rent as well.

Particularly check out the areas you'll get to by going down Argent Road from the airport, a very convenient location.

Good luck with the job and move, welcome to the forums.

Yeah. I think you can probably get from the old site of Hover to Hanford High or Bombing Range Road in less than forty minutes. That would be about as long a distance stretch (as the magpie flies) as exists while remaining in the TC.

You know, while this is called the "Tri-Cities" of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco, West Richland has grown right up against Richland, it's a newer, younger town, there is less "town" there, it's more of a "bedroom community" where many more people sleep than work. (which I personally don't care for, but, whatever). I would not really recommend it for anyone working at the airport - why set yourself up for a longer commute? But I want to point out that it's there. For that matter if you prefer a semi-rural setting, you could go to Benton City, there are a couple of apartment blocks there, but, in the winter at least, with one of our occasional snowstorms going and you need to be at work on time, you would be kicking yourself.

Considering each location just from the standpoint of location, as opposed to amenities, what kind of deal you can get on housing, etc., if I worked at the airport (or just flew out a lot) I would rate the towns *as locations for someone who works at the airport* around here from best to worst: Pasco, Burbank, Kennwick, Richland, West Richland. Now obviously you can find a few places in Kennewick, like around Yelm Ave, that would be more convenient than some parts of Pasco, but, in general, if you look at a map, you will see what I am talking about.

This is Tri-Cities-we don't have traffic, we have slow drivers who don't seem to understand what the pedal on the right is for.

Yesterday we had plenty who understood it rather too well. My wife was on her way home from Seattle and as soon as she came around the bend above Bentucky she started to see the ditched and rolled rides.

That is all too true-although how many had no snow tires on and thought that because they maybe had 4wdrive, they could drive through anything. All the cars I saw in the ditch were SUVs yesterday.
