Default type of grass seed to plant?

We need to do some re-seeding of parts of our yard in Pasco & were wondering what type of seed to buy at the local nursery? I'm sure it's the most common type of grass as our house is just a tract house & came with the yard when new a few years ago I'm sure. Everybody's yard has gotten so green over the last few weeks- we're just trying to keep pace...

Thanks in advance...

I suggest buying the blend they sell at Columbia Grain & Feed on Lewis. I now have several years' experience with it and it has produced a really nice thick green lawn.

Thanks j_k_k. We're just down Court from them. Are most lawns in the area a blend? I'm from the desert southwest & most lawns I'm used to are fescue (or bermuda, yuck!). I might even bring them a sample in a ziploc & they could probably tell me what we currently have eh? Thanks...

Personally, I am gradually letting bermuda have my yard. It is the best overall grass for this area in my opinion. However, in the years I fought that fight before surrendering, I had the best luck with the blend CG&F sells. I don't know exactly what sort of compositions most yards here have, but I would bet on a blend because this area has drouthy years in which yards must survive or fail on reduced water.

Thanks j_k_k. I know what you mean about the bermuda battle. Did it for many years. Thanks again...

Before I gave up, I did learn how to win it. It involves some very careful application of a substance called Turflon Ester, which the Cletus places like CG&F and Farmer's Exchange don't even really want too badly to sell to private homeowners, as it's fierce stuff. But it does slay bermuda and crab outright, plus some other weeds, leaving the other grasses. If applied correctly.
