Ive been in the middle of politically motivated arrests. Even where the "suspect" is totally innocent. Just read, in news, everyday and you will see it. People bang the drums, even though the facts prove Joe Smith didn't commit Crime X. But, because the politics drive the arrest, some slob is thrown in jail. And this from a police officer....
You weren't there, you have no clue if this was a murder. None. Whatsoever. You are the major part of the problem; not the solution.

Thanks for explaining my role in this lol If I am the problem then please explain that to me as I am no doubt in denial lol
Also thanks for explaining how I feel. I wasn't even 1 little bit inflamed, but since you know so well how I do feel, please explain what I should do about it now lol
he was arrested, thats all i am basing anything on, not inflamed, not anything except laughing at people who post explaining how I feel when they have no idea lol
thanks for the laugh phil!!!

Injustice
Are you kidding me? He got one day off with no pay for his "prank" and now that he killed someone, he's not even fired yet? Talk about injustice.

Perhaps they should just execute him pre-trial?
Describing the situation PRIOR to the final result as injustice is silly.
Heck, he got off scott free until they put him in jail for 20 years!

Maybe because the entire thread was launched with "don't trust the police; they're not your friends...."
I'm wondering where all the threads are for the millions of cops who go to work every day, do everything right, and risk their lives for their fellow citizens?
But when one cop screws up, the bashers come out in force, with idiotic statements like the one I quoted from the originial post.
Nothing wrong with posting something like this as a news story to comment on, but to preface it with "don't trust the police" and generally point a guilty finger at ALL cops because of one guy is an unfair slant.

The police are human beings who chose their job.
I do not idolize teachers, accountants, clergy people, clerks or dentists.
Why should I idolize cops?
Like THEY walk on water and do not make mistakes?
Are they EVER wrong?
To some people pointing out the flaw of a policeman is some sort of herasy.
Everyone in every profession has a job to do - some do it well others abuse their power like teachers who engage in sexual relations with children or preditory priests.
Calling a member of any profession out for bad behavior is HEALTHY.
|
When I see an accountant risk his life for the sake of thousands of people he doesn't even know, then we can put 'em in the same category. No one said you should 'idolize' cops, but a little bit of respect might be in order - maybe enough to make a distinction between what a law enforcement officer does and what a dentist does. I've been to 3 law enforcement funerals in the last year, but I'm trying to think of the last funeral I went to for a dentist killed while trying to save a patient, leaving behind a wife and 3 kids....
Calling out a member of a profession is certainly healthy, but bagging on that entire profession, in general, for the actions of a particular person is not. Sweeping generalizations don't do anything but discredit the person making them.

It's the wild west in the west. People can carry handguns anywhere they go, they drive as fast as they want, go through stop signs at will. It's that type of mentality--do what you want. The cop was arrested--the victim was unarmed. But, most of the cops out here are okay. They're not crazy as a whole. They have a horrendously difficult job with all of the nuts they deal with. Seems like 1 or 2/year, at least, get killed by some nut job and a few more get wounded routinely.

I won't defend the cop, but the truth is with so many armed in Phoenix, I can understand there must be more stress for cops to deal with.

Just a "technical" correction. It is the number of people in ARIZONA (not merely Phoenix) who carry firearms.
And now that no permit is required to carry a concealed weapon, more people (especially woman) than ever are carrying a firearm.
BTW, I'm just curious -- do you carry a firearm??

Correction duly noted, but I said Phoenix as the story deals with a Phoenix cop.
No, I don't.

There are good cops & bad cops just like there are good & bad people.
A riverside, ca cop (4 yrs) was killed yesterday while on duty.
Its a tough job but someone has to do it.
The search is still on for the cop killer & if he is caught im quite sure he will either be killed or get a cops beating before taken to jail.
