Couple of years ago friends of my parents went outside to go to work one morning and saw that the trunk of the wife's car was slightly popped / ajar. Went to go and inspect it and found a dead body inside. This is in a relatively stable upper middle class neighborhood where petty offenses never happen let alone murder. Cops came, later reported the victim was not even from our town but from a city a good two hours away. No info after that. Couple and neighborhood as a whole were obviously shaken as a result.

Yes. My mother's father shot and killed his nephew for seemingly no reason. There were some questions about his sanity, but he was declared competent and ended up dying of brain cancer in prison long before I was born.

My mother only met him once and didn't know much about him, but from what I heard from an older aunt he wasn't a good man, so he got what he deserved.

My grandmother handcuffed her husband to the bathroom pipe and shot him after some sort of domestic issue. My aunt who was a late teen at the time heard/ saw the aftermath. She's been schizophrenic since her 30's, was told she was never the same after. My grandmother did time on Rykers but was released.

I still remember this case and its hard to forget, especially since the families of the victims are still suffering and seeking justice, So I knew Lane Henley as he went to the same high school as I, and we had a couple of the same classes together, but we didn't become friends as he was the hippie type and I was the jock, Lane was known as the oddball loner and didn't have any high school friends that I can remember, back in those days high schools had a smoking area outside for the students and Lane was always there before classes, most often smoking marijuana, very strange guy that everybody stayed away from. This man used to come in where I worked to talk one of his kids. Although he seemed friendly when
he came in, he always acted like he owned the place (he didn't). I found out later that he went to
jail and was killed after he was released.

When I was a student and working in the US, I didn't have a clue what was happening back home in Wales. One day I got a letter from my school friend and in it, it said "Sit down and brace yourself, I've got some bad news".

She then went on to tell me that the husband of our other school friend had been murdered. It was a hell of shock. Our friend hadn't been married that long (she was very young when she got married, as she was having a child), and we had all been to their wedding.

Her husband had been involved in a fight outside a club. He'd got punched, fell and hit his head on the pavement. Tragically, he died. It was all so sad.

It happened quite a while ago. My friend has since re-married and seems to be getting on with her life. She was so brave to go through that though.

Found out recently a former childhood friend's son is being charged with murder. It has been weighing on my mind. He is a really nice guy but always been a bit excessive material wise. I know he bought his son a very expensive sports car for his birthday. He posted several pics on social media. Apparently the kid was out drinking with friends and driving at a high rate of speed. He hit someone else killing that person along with critically injuring several of his friends in the car. This happened many months ago and just now the kid is facing the courts. Not sure why it took so long and you would never know anything was amiss from the usual happy happy posts he makes. This happened in the later part of the winter and they have had vacations and parties since then. Many including the one kid being charged and everyone is all smiles. He wasnt injured in the accident apparently. At first I thought it couldn't be the same person but it is.

Of course I would never expect someone to post about something like that on social media, but he is one hell of a actor. He has always been an extreme optimist though. He knows people and is a success business man. I'm sure the kid has the best lawyer money can buy. I just wouldn't be able to sleep or eat if my child was facing such serious charges, much less taking vacations and posing for pics. Not only is there the murder charge, there are 4 other very serious charges added to the list as well. I don't see how his kid won't get jail time. I haven't talked to this friend in over a year. I can't see reaching out now so I guess I will see what happens from the media. I also can't help but think about the family that lost their loved one.
