I think the prostitution stings are entrapment and lets get real...cop should have better things to do than to do busting people trying get their nut on.

How on earth are prostitution stings entrapment? It's awfully hard for someone to claim entrapment when they went seeking it out...

I support them, although from a monetary stand point some stings that larger departments undertake do not seem to make sense.

I still love the comments from people who loved to see others get busted until they got busted.. Too funny. You did the 'crime' now pay the fine.

I didn't fall for it, but it certainly changed my view of the police. I had always pretty much supported the police and figured if anything bad to say about the cops they were probably tilting the story somewhat. Even when they were writing the ticket it was like I knew selling tix on venue property was against the law and I should have known better but after that it completely changed my whole outlook on police operations.
Sorry I too do not buy this part of your story and your credibility just dropped like a rock.

For example - this was an actual call, a bunny rabbit in the road ( yes, you read that correctly ). Here I am, the application process took months, factor in months of training, altogether a year and half before I was out on the road alone. Brand new car, trunk full of weapons, pressed uniform, smokey the bear hat, gold badge, if the situation was bad enough, I could've summoned a SWAT team and a helicopter over the radio, BUT - there I was, responding to a bunny rabbit in the road.
Trust me, if we'll roll for a bunny rabbit, we'll roll for an actual human in trouble, no matter where they are.
I got a stupid call for you.. a few weeks ago a older gal called in a Raccoon in some sort of distress. It was walking around in circles in front of her house and she wanted us to come check it out. Upon arrival the responding officer found the raccoon to be gone on arrival.. But the old lady was sure it was confused or other wise in need of help from the Sheriff Department.
The best calls, the ones youwill always remember, you just can't make up...

Officer - Oh really, well she is a Police Officer
John - Ya um like I said I went to school with her, I knew she was a cop but I just thought if she was horny I may get lucky... but umm no um no I was not going to pay for it
Phone rings... John - Oh it's my wife can I answer it
Officer - Sure if you tell her the same story you just told me, or let me talk to her first.
John - Okay, I won't answer it. Just take me to jail.

Still trying to figure out what the "crime" was supposed to be. If the city needs money that bad, they can cut spending. Start by laying off cops without enough to do (though one of the cops straight up told me he was getting paid overtime for this).

The crime I am speaking of is what is commonly called ticket scalping. It is obviously against you local statutes. It does not mean you are bad person or even knew that is was against the law. Unfortantley ignorance is no excuse.

I still do not believe your story of the officer handing you a beer and another with his iphone ready to take a picture. It just sounds to fishy and is not the way a UC officer should or is allowed to act. If somehow that is a true story then you need file a formal complaint with that department. If you need help in doing that let me know I will find out who to contact.

No scalpers were in the roundup. They know the areas to avoid and have been around the block enough times to know who the undercover officers are. Thankfully I scored some awesome tickets a few days later and was able to really ream some people in order to pay the fine. Except I sold online or at the office. Not that I make a habit of it but in that case I really needed the money.

Silly me, I should have known it's been proven that police officers or people in a position of authority always behave ethically. Funny thing even the cop in the family I told about this didn't disbelieve it.

Welcome to real world of law enforcement. I've been doing it for 22 Yrs. However, the general public have no clue what we do and/or how we do it. However, they have no problems spouting off their "opinions." shoot, they know, they watch COPS and CSI

Was involved in one yesterday- a seatbelt sting. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers park their car out of sight, then they hide behind a tree, lightpole, etc. and when traffic is stopped they jump out and walk in between rows of cars looking for seatbelt violators. I'm against them especially if the cops are breaking the law to catch you breaking the law.

Any form of "incitement" to commit a crime should not be legal. However, entrapment and baiting may fall under that umbrella and have to be extensively proven in court.
