A peeve of mine on here is people who rush in to trash an area after someone posts, "Im moving to [city] and would like to know if it is safe?" Usually, these people never share anything about their area's reputation. So I went and found list of what City-Data claims to be the cities with the Lowest crime rates in America.

But I would like to know how your own area rates, in your opinion?

LOL. I don't have to look it up...I live a little north of Flint Michigan, which is usually in the top three as far as murders and violent crimes. And an hour north of Detroit, ditto.

However it is quite safe for most people....the majority of murders are ghetto residents killing other ghetto residents over drugs or relatively petty personal issues. So in my opinion, it sucks but it's not a demographic that includes or concerns me. Also I have big dogs and am legally armed.

The problem is, you never know when Mother Nature is going commit her next crime, and all those crime statistics will be no guide whatsoever to your safety.

How many people moved, visited Sendai, Japan in the past couple months attracted by their low crime rate, and? There was Mother Nature, committing the crime of the century, a 9.0 earthquake.

So, given Mother Nature may commit her next crime in Las Vegas, capable of a 7.0 earthquake........................................ ..

Vegas with an earthquake. Talk about complete anarchy! I live in a large city, with high crime. I have not seen it or experienced it. I had a car stolen in Idaho, only time ever. Go figure it. Also, crime statistics are misleading, a larger city may have more crime reported, due to population density, but crime happens everywhere, no one is safe. Sociopaths can go anywhere.
