Miramar, Florida:

Man's 911 call states his 2 and a half yr old toddler shot his mom in the back while the man was trying to take the gun away from the kid.

Do you believe this???? Sounds questionable to me. A little toddler doing with a loaded gun? How did he get it? Can a kid even hold up a gun at that age? The couple was not married and the man did not live in the home, so did the gun just appear out of thin air?

I didn't believe the man's story.. He even had the nerve to say he didn't even know it was loaded..
B.S.
As a licensed gun carrier, you should know..
Anyways, It takes a LOT of grip strength to pull a trigger.... I doubt a toddler would be able to pull it.
Did it state what kind of gun??

I hope they find out the truth....

Type of gun not mentioned..think it is early in investigation.

I just do not believe it.

Highly unlikely the "story" given to LE about it being the toddler is true. Heard the 911 recording at another website.

Being a current gun owner ( handgun and rifles ), and a former Law Enforcement officer I think I can speak from experience in stating the following.
If the gun was either a pistol or revolver AND the hammer was in the COCKED position then yes a two year old could possibly discharge it. However based on what I have heard including the tapes I do not believe this is the case. I think that this guy did it and possibly knew to use the child's finger to help him "pull the trigger" knowing based on television shows like CSI the child would have residue on his hands therefor making his story plausible. If he did this and he thinks this will get him off I have some news for him. He will be caught.
Now to shoot this lady in the head you would have to believe this baby picked up the gun and basically aimed it since didnt he say that they were trying to get the gun away from the child? I mean for someone to actually believe this story would have to be insane. Having said that it is "possible" for this to happen. It doesnt take much pressure to pull the trigger on a gun that's cocked. Stranger things have happened I guess but I personally would have to suspend reality to believe this guys story!

Looks like I'll have to change the statement I usually make about guns: "Any five year old can shoot you dead."

Guess I didn't go low enough.

Do you actually believe this toddler fired that Glock?

Likely - no. Possible - yes, ESPECIALLY with a Glock. Idiots are shooting themselves with Glocks all the time because poor firearm discipline and the lack of an external safety on the Glock. But this is a child. Sad to say, AD's occur in all ages.
A 2 or 3 year old CAN pick up a firearm. a 2 or 3 year old CAN pull the trigger on just about any handgun. Most trigger pulls are 5 pounds or less at the toe of the trigger (with a childs small fingers, it will pull at the toe of the trigger and bypass the Glocks trigger lever safety devices) and less than an inch, even uncocked and with double action. A child bracing his plam on the grip and his finger on the trigger can indeed pull it back. Keep your firearms locked up!
That all being said, a 2 to 3 year old CANNOT do all this and aim. It would have been a really lucky shot, and too convenient for the dad, so I am saying it's likely a BS story.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that a 2-yr old toddler did this -- I think even the most lithe and nimble toddler [and we all know how they can be] is lithe enough and strong enough to pick up a gun, aim it, keep it steady and shoot with it. I am not sure which of these scenarios is more despicable -- a man using his child as a cover or the shooting itself in front of a child {?} - I hope those officers and detectives grill that man to pieces.
