Are you kidding me?!?!?!?! GBH, I know you are not - what the he*^*& - so, we have trusted people in professional positions - ministers, priests, dentists, pediatricians -- I am beginning to seriously wonder if it can be a requirement for acceptance into a position like these if there is not some kind of MMPI deriative psychological profile exam that could possibly 'red flag' these candidates? I realize there are some exams/tests that one can 'beat', for lack of any other word; however, there has to be something already established or perhaps can be created as part of the hiring process.

Thoughts?

There was some controversial work done on inmates, collecting DNA samples to find the "socio-path" gene. I think the research had some validity...

Yes, it seems *sugarmaple* these guys would have some weird-o gene, mental defect/thought process, or SOMETHING that could ID them!!! For now my answer is:

don't trust ANYONE but that is a hard way to live....well, better than some of the alternatives!

I am wondering why a variation of an MMPI could not be created - if I recall correctly, there are some psychological testing exams that ask basically the same question in different ways and under different guises, thus if someone who is really slick, for lack of a better word, and thinks they can mislead w/their answer[s], they may not be able to identify that a similar question is being asked and or a different question completely although the response would be in connection with the initial question asked [hope you could follow that one]....there has to be some kind of a mechanism. I am also wondering and I trust there will be interesting controversy too, that those wanting to join a religious order of some sort also have to have some type of psychological profile done on them as well.

These are positions of power, trust, responsibility and, clearly, influence. Influence meaning the impact on a child and the ability to twist/manipulate/use a child are very much tools that are used by an offender / abuser and there have to be red flags somewhere - and clearly, it is vital to see them before something horrible happens to someone.

...maybe we will get some psych input on the thread...I am with you on the religious part...

I know we are not to consider stereotypes of people/photos etc. but in this one case:

the "professor" LOOKS like a child porn addict , at least what I would create in my mind of one!

Hi Ms. Heron - I was not even thinking about stereotypes at all, it did not even dawn on me...I am just thinking, even if controversial, there has to be some type of testing "pre-cursor' and if not, what a terrific project that could be for a group of psychology students, well maybe for their doctorate thesis? Something....I would certainly rather err on the side of caution by crafting some type of psychological test to either red flag or filter out than risk the emotions or feelings of someone trying to get into any of these respective fields who could harm a child. Actually, I would also think if someone really protested too much about taking such a test, perhaps that in itself could be a 'red flag'.

Thoughts?

I had to hunt but found his picture. A college actually hired him looking like he does? Or did he let himself go once he got the job? Either way, he looks like white trailer park trash (no offense to trailer parks that have residents who are responsible and take care of their homes and park). And to any who say I am judging, you look at this guy and judge for yourself. He lives up to the the impression/judging I just gave him.
