ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony's attorney shocked a packed courtroom during opening statements Tuesday, telling the jury that Anthony's 2-year-old daughter Caylee was the victim of an accidental death and not a murder as the prosecutors contended.

------

"How in the world can a mother wait 30 days before ever reporting her daughter missing?" Baez asked in open court. "It's insane. It's bizarre. Something's just not right about that .

"Well, the answer is relatively simple -- she never was missing. Caylee Anthony died on June 16, 2008, when she drowned in her family's swimming pool."

Drowned

They never proved that. Just "said" that is what happened. Does anyone really believe that?

We already know the defense doesn't have to prove anything, but just for the sake of argument we'll assume the claim is true.

Child drowning in an alleged accident and dying = partying it up like a rock star.

Doesn't make sense nor is it indicative of someone concerned about their child.

I know that, but since it was never proven, regardless of whether they "had" to or not, AND because we DO know what a big liar she is....doesn't really fare well as truth.

AND, regardless of whether she drown and they KNEW it or not, a caring, concerned parent would not act like that.

That's highly speculative at best and extremely dependent on the individual person.

Face it -the jurors in this case were stupid, ignorant, acted as a unified group of [sequestered] friends, and wanted to get back home... The verdict shocked practically everyone - legal professionals and laypersons alike. Those that believe the verdict was understandable, fair, just and correct are nothing more than the type of people that always take the other side - strictly for argument's sake. You know who they are - so you're arguing with someone that likes to argue...or they are dumb as a bag of hammers.
