Yes the family was all cleared via DNA, including the older half siblings. The most plausible theory I've heard is that while the Ramseys were out visiting friends for several hours on the afternoon and evening of Dec. 25, the killer snuck in through a basement window and hid in the house. Plenty of time to look around the place, find the notepad and pen, etc., and write the crazy ransom letter (which he left for the family to find on the staircase before he left the residence after the murder). Once the family came home that evening and turned in for the night, he waited until he thought they were all asleep and took Jon Benet from her bed and carried her to the basement and killed her.

So far the DNA found on Jon Benet's body has NOT been matched to any person, but it is in a database and if the real killer gets arrested for another crime and has his DNA catalogued, he will finally be identified.

Hmm, interesting reading...after looking at this, I can easily imagine Patsy in a rage of knowing JonBenet was being abused by her husband, blaming the child, and killing her. Then staging the entire scene. Her husband, knew he would be implicated if he said anything...so they teamed up...and created this cover up..a plausible story from the above article. But, just as plausible that someone outside the family did it...the photographer?

Actually, JonBenet's half brother was reported to be in Atlanta during the Christmas holiday. He left Boulder on December 19. His alibi was that he had gone to the movies and to the ATM during the night of December 25. He even showed his ATM transaction and movie stubs. His friend who was with him backed up his claim. John Andrew was cleared back in 1997 because of this alibi.

However....a neighbor of the Ramseys reported seeing John Andrew walking up to the Ramsey house during the evening of December 25. Later on, he recanted his statement and said that he didn't see him.

WHY do people lie like that? Don't they realize giving false information, or making an ID they are not sure of, more that likely will HELP the REAL killer evade justice?

Apparently, the Ramseys lawyers had contacted him and told him to "forget what he saw". The neighbor was in his 70s or 80s when it happened. I really don't think he lied on purpose. I think he did see someone---I'm just not sure if it was John Andrew.

But if the family was cleared by DNA, how could it be a family member who killed her?

It almost certainly was someone outside the family. There is no credible evidence pointing to the family.

To be honest, they don't have credible evidence pointing to anyone. Do you know how many ways touch DNA could have ended up on her? How many people handle things we buy every day? A few skin cells, which is what they have, could have transferred many ways. IMO, this is grasping at straws. It's not like they have skin and blood under her fingernails from fighting back or bodily fluids. I'm a bit skeptical about "touch DNA".

Maybe this will pan out and maybe it won't. I'm leary of it but it's new technology and unproven.
