FIL Steven Powell is dead. I feel so bad for Susan's family. He was probably their last hope of finding out where their daughter is.

Steve Powell was a real piece of work, spying on his neighbor's children taking inappropriate videos of them in the privacy of their home. I wonder if his son Josh Powell had mental issues as well.

Hmmm I was sure she was in Utah somewhere, but now that I read that article and see that he took a rented car 800 miles, I wonder what the chances are that he moved her? He wasn't especially smart, but maybe his brother or father told him that the police knew of his statements about hiding bodies in mine shafts, and he decided leaving her there was too risky?

One doesn't have to be too smart to talk about hiding bodies in one place when you've hidden one somewhere else, or too smart to NOT talk about hiding a body somewhere you just hid one.

I don't remember if this has been posted in this thread before, but a Salt Lake reporter has a podcast covering this case. Looks interesting and looks like it has more details that in the mainstream media. I missed the Dateline report that someone mentioned, so not sure what they covered.

True, but watching true crime stories, it's very surprising how many do just that. The hospital lab tech who asked her coworker how to kill her husband. He jokingly said Succinylcholine thinking she was kidding. That's what she used.

The woman who asked how much antifreeze it takes to kill a 160 lb dog and her 160 lb husband ends up dead from antifreeze poisoning.

Just last night there was a 20/20 story where a guy told all the details about a murder he had done, and I mean all of them to an acquaintance. They weren't close friends as far as I could tell.

Some people just can't keep their mouths shut, even the smart ones.
