As far as I know I don't think there was any new evidence, just a 're-interpretation' of the available evidence (and lack thereof). At least that's what I think.

Sheriff Gore ‘surprised’ by Rebecca Zahau civil case verdict | fox5sandiego.com

Quote:
"I'd say I'm rather surprised at the verdict. There's just no physical evidence or eye-witness evidence to tie Adam Shacknai to this murder," Gore said. "There is no DNA, no fingerprint. It's interesting that Mr. Greer turned that theory that the crime scene was wiped clean of all of the physical evidence which is really difficult to do in this scientific age."

Gore maintained that he has always been open to reviewing the case and meeting with the Zahau family and their attorney Keith Greer.

"I'd talk to Mr. Greer about it and what he has to offer. If there was something we missed or misinterpreted by our homicide detail or the medical examiners, I'd be more than happy to reopen it," Gore said.

I'd expect LE statement of standing by their investigation and interpretations.

New Evidence:

Greer said his team of investigators has uncovered a new piece of evidence which calls into question the suicide ruling by the San Diego County Medical Examiner. He said the evidence indicates that Zahau was sexually assaulted on the night of her death.

In court documents filed by Greer, experts stated Zahau’s DNA was found all over the handle of a steak knife. The original investigation confirmed that Zahau's blood was on the handle. A later investigation determined it was Zahau's menstrual blood, Greer said.

“She was violated by the handle of the knife that was inserted into her,” the attorney alleged.

And why was the scream for help, as stated by neighbor, disregarded in the first trial...? It goes with a rape and being tied up before HE gagged her to keep her quiet.

As you can see, I'm still invested in some way in this case.

Believe it was the same neighbor who told investigators she saw Dina and Nina in front of Shaknais house that nite; later discovered false.
