Last night on ID, I saw this crime that took place in the 90's, in NC. It is the story of a Fort Bragg soldier, Tim Hennis, who goes to a house to see a puppy for his small child, and returns again to kill a mother, Kathy Eastburns and two of her three little children. He spared the baby.........obviously cannot identify him, after raping the mother.......

First trial, not guilty, second trial not guilty. Because of double jeopardy, he could not be tried again, in civil court, but a cold-case investigator took a look at it, and bingo, found DNA that had never been tested. The Military tried him in 2009, and found him guilty!!!!!

This is, without a doubt, one of the most horrific, callous crimes I have ever heard of.

There is a book by Scott Wishnant.

How terrible. I never can get over the ones that the children are killed. I had not heard of this and I am so glad they finally got justice. What is the name of the book ?

The name of the book is "Innocent Victims." Barnes and Nobles carry it.

This happened in May of 1985 before DNA testing ... a DNA vaginal swab taken at that time caught the eye of a cold case detective in 2006 and he sent the swab for DNA testing ... it came back that the semen belonged to Hennis, 12,000 trillion to one certainty ... 21 years later. Amazing what technology we have now.

Now Hennis attorney has appealed his death sentence by a military jury ... but the appeal is to the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (civilian) vs military court.
