Some of us interested in these crime stories that hit the news want to know what would motivate someone to commit such a crime. Its not normal.

Were they having marital problems? Did he have mental health issues?
Was there control and jealousy? Could he have been the type of person who bottled things up and then exploded?
Well, he wasn't so mentally ill that he didn't explain (sort of) to his son what had happened, reassure him, then turn himself in to the police, showing he knew what he'd done and that it is against the law.

I would have to say they were definitely having marital problems even if she didn't know about them because, hey, he killed her!
