Remember the case a few weeks ago of the dogs that killed an infant. The mother and grandfather have been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

NC grandfather now charged after 9-day-old girl mauled by dogs - WBTV 3 News, Weather, Sports, and Traffic for Charlotte, NC-

Not quite sure how I feel about this. Should all parents be charged with a crime if a dog harms a child ? Should the history of the dog [known to be aggressive] be taken into account ? Does how long were the dogs and baby out of sight matter ?

Smart choice of dogs to be around an infant. I sure hope the dogs are OK. I know, it's all in how they're raised, though.

Why does God let morons have babies?

People keep dogs as weapons and the law should treat it as such. It is no different than leaving a loaded gun around a child

The mother had the baby in one of those infant seats and placed her on the kitchen counter. The mother went to take a shower leaving the baby on the counter thinking the grandfather was there watching Addyson. Grandfather wasn't even in the house ... he was out in the yard.

I agree. These are violent animals. It's too bad they can't sentence this idiot mother to having her tubes tied. People this stupid should not breed. You don't have violent animals around a baby PERIOD!

Honestly, this scenario doesn't make any sense to me. Even if they were raised and trained as attack dogs, why would they see Addyson as a threat? I wonder if the poor animals were starving or what.

No, just violent. I used to baby sit for a couple whose Doberman attacked their infant with no provocation at all. They let the dog in and it, calmly, walked over to the bassinet and grabbed the baby by her abdomen and started shaking her as if it were trying to tear her apart. The baby lived but she was in very bad shape.

There are breeds of dog that don't need a reason to attack a baby.

Please focus on the human element of this crime. The humans are charged with the crime, not the dogs.

The humans neglected to appropriately supervise the baby and dogs, leading to a tragic incident.

Involuntary manslaughter is the same charge one would get if they drove negligently and caused a death. There's no difference in this case. The adults were negligent and a death of a baby was the result. Whether these dogs were vicious or not is really beside the point. You don't leave a 9 day old baby unattended.
