Man who raped and beat teenage girlfriend with hammer before murdering her gets life in prison

She was also the mother of his baby. I have NO problem with the court's ruling, especially since the family of the victim was happy with it too.

Ooh, I mistyped -- he got life, not death. I was reading too many crime stories at once and scrambled 'em. Actually I am even happier with the life sentence -- I think it's worse on the killer. As long as they don't let him out in 2 years for good behavior.

No, he was stalking her after she left him, no doubt in terror for her life.

It would be totally different if they were still living together. He probably would have just gotten off with a warning.

No. I think that's how it works when the girl kills the guy. Invariably she will plead domestic violence whether there was any or not.

Usually the opposite is true. She could have 2 broken arms but she'll say she fell down the stairs, so he won't get even madder at her and kill her.
