Police Reportedly Believe Single Killer To Blame For Bodies Found On New York's Long Island | Fox News

Police are now saying it's likely a single killer responsible for Gilgo Beach murders. Personally I found their "multiple killers" theory pretty stupid (unless they were working in concert).

I also think it's lame to say a missing craigslist prostitute... last seen running for her life in the area... probably is just a coincidence.

Does anyone have theories? I have wondered if this might be a case where he is keeping the girl(s) alive in captivity. There have been some really horrible cases like this over the years-- and this might explain the toddler that no one seems to have known existed. Perhaps the child was born in captivity and was either killed or died of natural causes.

I can't remember the names but there was a guy in Russia who kept two girls captive for years, impregnated one of them twice. Perhaps this is a situation like that, as dreadful as that would be.

I just read about that. There was a thread on here that I was looking for where we were just talking about how long it would be until we had another serial killer. They're up to ten victims so far... that's a serial killer. Crazy.

I sure hope the cops catch the killer before he kills more. We surely do live in a world full of sickos.

we do. Always sharks in the water, As i like to put it. These serial killers usually do not stop killing, In fact, someone like this will seek further pleasure in their crimes.

I cant help but wonder what really goes through the mind of people like this. To murder people with no remorse, And see it almost as a sport. I hope they get this person and put him away soon.

They believed it could have been more than one killer when they found the young 18 mos. child and the male, but if you watched the two hour special last night on BRAVO tv, it was said that some prostitutes bring their infants along with them to work. The Asian male who was found was of slight frame and dressed as a female, so now they believe it may all be sex trade related and one killer who has evolved his method over time.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/05/ar...nt&tntemail0=y

Some of the early victims were found as only body parts, some parts of a victim were found in one place at one time and other parts of the same body, somewhere and someplace else.

Some of the dead girls had left for the meetings with the john without their cell phones, leading to the belief that the perpetrator was known to them or had come across as being very safe.

The police; when first called by a victims family, in an attempt on their part to file a missing person's report after 3 days; hung up on the family member. Later, the police said they did not accept reports on prostitutes who were missing until 10 days had passed.

There may be a tie in to similar cases that had occurred in the New Jersey shore area.

Some, I forget-perhaps all, of the girls were free lancing and not using an escort service. Those services, it was said, logged certain information about the customers. I think most, or all, of the girls advertised through Craig's List.

Some of the bodies were wrapped in burlap, leading to the possibility of the perp being involved in fishing or perhaps a garden nursery business. Some of the crimes were in or near a retirement village.

The girls were amazed at how lucrative the work was, how after their ads were posted online for just a short time, many calls from prospective customers came in.

I wonder, with college tuitions being so high, and it being so hard to find work, whether increasing numbers of young women will be turning to this line of work.

Some of the girls had been enticed to New York with the lure of a career in modeling, which were/seemed legitimate jobs. The escort services cruised these business establishments looking for fresh new faces to recruit into their line of work.

One of the sisters of a victim was also in that line of work, and rather than getting out of the business, took self defense classes and was trying to lure the s.o.b. who did this into being one of her customers. She swore that at some point the guy would get caught - that one of his victims would escape.

Most of these girls lied to their parents regarding the business they were in.

One of the girls left prostitution and was looking for jobs to help support her two kids. She was trying out as supermarket clerks or fast food workers. I think her home was threatened with foreclosure and she went on a 'date' to raise money to keep her house and later, was found dead.

No matter what they did to raise money, I don't think the police should delay their response. Every girl is somebody's daughter, perhaps a mother. Yeah, I agree if you are ready to say that maybe in a risky line of work you should not be having kids.

Watch, AFTER this guy is caught, all the psychics will come out of the woodwork saying they 'saw' something, that they could have helped to solve it.

My theory-it's one killer who has decided to be a "visionary" killer-I would have to get out one of my books so don't quote me on the visonary..anyway he feels he is getting rid of the sleaze-doing the world a favor...plus it is easier to kill prostitues because no one will miss them. Most of them are transient-I'm sure he has some connection to them-maybe a family member-maybe he was rejected by one...I hope they catch him

The Long Island Killer has gotten some media attention, but does not seem to get the response on this public forum that some other cases do, even though it is current and ongoing and the police would probably appreciate some ideas.

I fear to say that the lack of interest may reflect the public attitude toward prostitution.
Even though it is not the most reputable profession, their lives are surely worth more than a none response?

Maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps people feel as though it's just a local problem.

Did anyone see the tv show? I found it interesting.

I agree...every human life is worth something...

I did not see the show-I haven't had time to look into this case much...my heart goes out to all the victims...

It seems as though a lot or all of the contacts were through Craig's List, which they said had closed down and revamped their personal section several times. I don't think anyone was harmed who contacted their johns through an agency.

I guess it's the lure of quick money without requiring a lot of effort. Even moms can end up spending more time with their children. I think that woman who that NY politician was caught with was with an agency and was working her way through college. The woman who was from the agency and explaining the situation, passing herself off as the girl involved, I read, was not actually the girl involved who wanted to keep her identity off the cameras because she really was preparing for a legitimate occupation.
