In cases where the person is caught unquestionably guilty (you know, like Mumia lol.) I would like to have the DP available so that they can plea to life no parole.
People always forget about that aspect of the DP. The posterchild for this application was the Green River Killer whom killed 60ish women and but for the DP threat wouldn't have helped close all the missing gal cases etc etc.
No remorse. His daughter meant nothing to him, that he makes very clear. Whether it's death penalty or life without parole, this bastard deserves his schlong whacked off.
The thing is that he's trying to make the baby's mother feel as if SHE is also to blame because HE threw the baby off the bridge. This whole thing is just horrible. And also, he knocked the grandmother down and then hit her with his car when taking the baby from her. It was caught on a survellance tape, and he's LOOKING AT IT RIGHT THERE IN THE COURTROOM and trying to say that the grandmother just put her hands on his car--he didn't really hit her.
The bridge is about 20 miles from where I live, and I cross the same river by train within sight of that bridge every day. I remember seeing the police boats out there trolling the river for the baby's body and looking out and wondering where she was. She washed up on the banks two months later and passersby found her.
This case is disgusting. I say toss him off the bridge and save the taxpayers money. However, since we are a much more civilized nation, while I don't generally agree with the death penalty, he is the poster boy for it. No appeals, no sob stories.
So if a mother cat kills her kittens, we should kill the mother cat to avenge her kittens?
I'm not saying I sympathize with the man's actions. But to not love your own daughter, there would have to be something wrong with you. He should be put in a mental ward.

The problem with using the death penalty as a bargaining chip is that they might falsely confess guilt if they feel like they are going to be wrongly convicted anyways.
Evil, narcissistic piece of crap. Anyone that can hurt or kill a child should be surgically removed from society.
