Anyone recall In Broad Daylight, a murder in Skidmore, Missouri?

Ken McElroy had robbed, raped, burned, shot...and maimed the citizens of Skidmore, Missouri, without conscience or remorse. Again and again, the law had failed to stop him. On July 10, 1981, Ken McElroy was shot to death on the main street of this small farming community. 45 people watched. No indictments were ever issued, no trial held--and the town of Skidmore has protected the killers with silence to this day.

One of the most exciting and memorable true crime books I've ever read. I found myself rooting thru the whole book, hoping and praying the citizens would eventually take the law into their own hands, and wipe this criminal off the face of the earth! And they did it!!! Who dunnit?

I'm sure this has happened elsewhere in this country, from time to time, but this case got national exposure.

Yep, I remember this story well. There was a movie made about this crime, if I remember correctly. The dead man was a real piece of work. Satan incarnate.

Try Michigan for child abuse and murders in the last couple of years. Completely off the charts. Some of the most heinous. It's everywhere.

I wonder if there is a coorelation to the economy? I read some place that higher unemployment leads to more domestic violence. And probably more crime.

Who ever said, "money does not equal happiness", has probably not been unemployed, upside down on a mortgage, and had a couple of kids to support. Money may not buy happiness....but it sure makes life more manageable.

I worked for Michigan DOC, so I know the crimes that happened in Detroit and the surrounding areas. When I got to Texas, WOW! I thought Michigan was bad, the local news stations and papers reported all the heinous crimes here. I actually thought I was back in Michigan, the same sad and horrific crimes happened here as well, especially child abuse. Breaks my heart.

Now, this is interesting....grandson of Charles Manson...
Two men relate to same haunting specter -- Charles Manson - CNN.com

If we think anti social behavior is genetic, this guy would be a criminal. Nope. He is a nice, normal guy....whose Grandpa happens to be Charles Manson. Wow. How creepy is that!?

The article states that DNA proves neither man profiled is related to Manson. Both were disappointed for different reasons.

Did anyone watch Dateline last night? It was about that 4 yr old boy, Sean Goldman, who was kidnapped by his Brazilian mother?

The kid finally spoke about his ordeal last night. IDK the father had gotten him back two years ago! Seems like everything is going well for this poor kid and father who were ripped apart for 5 years. Nice to hear a good story.
