"Controls to the Petersons' Christmas
lights were in one of two sheds on their
property. A neighbor testified she observed
the lights come on during the afternoon of
Dec. 24, but Peterson told police
he did not turn them on."

This is news to me as well. Does anyone remember hearing about this and how it was significant to the case?

Leineke, I still can't find any info on the fingernail, and I've looked since you mentioned it a couple of weeks ago.

EVIDENCE PHOTOS
I'll keep looking for it, but I'm not able to find it easily. Perhaps I have misremembered this detail, or it was a rumor.

Anyone catch the ABC special last night Truth and Lies: The Murder of Laci Peterson? It was pretty good and included a lot of the jurors statements.

I fell asleep twenty minutes in.
I'm guessing the ending is the same ... Scott deservedly on death row.

LOL I saw a blurb of Geragos on that show with gray hair now. Is he still maintaining that he is certain that Scott is innocent?

I've enjoyed seeing all the players fifteen years later.

I think that the witnesses either saw someone else walking their dog that day, or remembered seeing Laci a different day. She did walk frequently in the neighborhood, and it in retrospect it can be hard to remember what happened on specific days. People tend to rely on their memory about routines. If you believe the witnesses that Laci was walking the dog wearing black pants and a white top and was abducted while walking the dog, why was she not wearing those clothes when her body was found? She was found wearing beige pants and no top.

About the timeline. Scott said he left at 9:30 am, but he reported that Laci was watching Martha Stewart and Martha was talking about meringue. When reviewing the episode, it was found that this meringue comment wasn't made until about 9:45 am depending on local commercials that aired. So we know that he was home when that comment was made at 9:45 am. Also his cell phone pinged a tower near his home at 10:08 am. The prosecution contended that because of this cell phone ping, the earliest he could have left home was around 10:08 am. This means the dog would have only been out for a few minutes before the neighbor found her around 10:18 am.
I'm sorry, I had intended to include the link.

I really can't make any sense of that - can you?

If she actually DID notice the lights flicking on in the afternoon, why would Scott lie about doing it? Laci was long gone by then, she certainly didn't do it, and if Scott did do it, that's just further evidence that he's living a normal life performing normal routine tasks and doesn't believe anything is amiss.

Some naysayers would say well yeah, he did it to act like everything was normal, like he hadn't just killed his wife - but then why would he lie and say he didn't do it? He'd say yes, I did, it was Christmas eve and I was in a jolly festive mood.

It makes no sense that someone turned them on, other than Scott. And it makes no sense that Scott would state he didn't do it, if he did.

Don't know what to make of it. I suspect the neighbor is wrong, and Laci did it in the morning.

Me, too. But I realize I can be critical of the difference between then and now. Perhaps I should dig up a photo of myself from 15 years ago and look at myself beside it in the mirror.
