Seattle cops can't use red-light cameras for evidence

State law prevents using red light cameras for anything other then traffic enforcement. Great. There are two murderers on the loose, when information could be had to catch them.

Forget the "big brother" and "1984" quotes. Video cameras are everywhere these days. I cannot make an arrest anywhere, without being filmed every which way and then some.

If you are in public and even private, expect you are being filmed and/or recorded.

I agree and rulings by higher courts in cases of search and seizure have said even though you are in your private vehicle, you're on a public road, therefore no expectation of privacy. This WA law is probably as good as dead next legislative session.

That doesn't seem right to me. When Baby Lisa Irwin disappeared LEO there used video from a cam located on a convenience store that had captured someone walking down the street in the middle of the night.

The WA law needs to be changed.
