The "average joe." No, possibly not stupid. You and them ignorant to the facts? Absolutely. You have no clue what occurred. None whatsoever. You have no clue what police procedures, tactics, et al are. You have no clue what happened before the video camera was turned on. You have no clue what the officers knew about the suspect.

Bottom line: You have no clue...

It seems to me and this is just an opinion mind you...tat there is a different set of laws that apply to the general public and another for the members of the elite team commonly known as the police. So many of them are criminals themselves only they hide their true nature's behind a badge, and under the guise of" protect and serve"

Yes, i have had minor run ins with the law, in regards to traffic or alleged traffic violations...After moving to a small town..from the point of my first run in with the "LAW" they began to quite literally harass me. One time pulling me over just because they saw me in my car...they continually drove past my house and when reaching my exact house would slow down to a crawl to see what i was up too. Mind you i am not a "criminal" in the true sense of the word i don't drink do drugs or display public acts of indecency or disruption. They just decided i was someone to harass, many people think well there must be a good reason for this and i am saying no no no i didnt do anything that warrants this sort of continual scrutiany
The area i lived in {i since moved}
The one cop i delt with actually told me if i didnt like it i should MOVE! And that he will be watching and waiting for me!!
How frightininig is that?I am a middle aged woman who raised two children and i am targeted by the local police force??
It was so bad i jokingly said to one of my neighbors what do they think i am running a meth lab in my basement or
something? seriously this cops dislike for me seemed more personal than anything and upon talking with others who lived in my quiet subbarn nieghborhood the cops in are area were regularily over zealious and carried a chip on their shoulders.
I shutter to think what it would be like to actually be married to these sort of men!
Which takes me back to an earlier place in time with a cop who on numerous occasion{different area}asked me for a date as a newly single mother and desperatley trying too heal the wounds from a broken marriage dating was the last thing on my mind. well guess what this cop got so irritated that i refused his advances that he actually said i will find a reason to pul you over whenever i see you!!! WHAT? this is outright sexual harassment but what did i really know i was only 28 at the time.
I am sorry to ramble on about my personal experience because it really is no comparison to what this poor woman had to endure at the hands of her cop/husband! I can relay other stories or things i witnessed over the years, but way to numerous to account.
It saddens me that the whole judicial system is corrupt..the law picks and chooses those they want to prosecute.
Jail has lost its meaning when your placing people who are non violent basically law abiding citizens behind bars but letting those who evoke anger and brutality free to walk the streets ? i have lost faith in this country no longer do i feel safe in my own country, knowing its not just those who are deemed criminal you need to watch outr for but those who have sworn to serve and protect the citizens who pay their salaries.
The government reminds me of the mafia/ in that if you get a fine pay up or else! or else what ?you go to jail and then get a "credit for being in jail towards that fine? doesnt it cost to house and feed those incarcerated even for short increments of time? who picks up the bill? we do the tax payer we pay for the jails the salaries of those employed there the food for inmates the clothing the cable...yes jail has cable...etc etc. so how does it make sense that a person owes say a 300 dollar fine cant pay for whatever reason then the court solution is to lock them up in order for restitution to be given? so now the tax payer is picking up the tab for the persons crime or violation? i use that word crime loosely because often times people end up in the local jail for something stupid!
Anyway, i hope that lady didnt get so scared that she let this bully off the hook...he could have taken her life so he should pay not be prancing arouund with hids badge intact and his freedom!

I don't know what kind of alternative universe some people live in. Maybe its the way I act. Maybe its the way I dress. I've had a history of interactions my entire life with police officers and I do not recall a single occasion where I was threatened or abused. I think when I was younger that some officers might have been a bit nicer, but nothing was ever really out of line.

I have received traffic tickets and sometimes I have verbally contested the issuance of the citation. I am not afraid to stand up for myself and I bet a number of police officers haven't always liked what I've told them. However, every single one I can think of for years has remained polite and civil to me. I have talked officers out of giving me a ticket when I clearly deserved one on more occasions than I would like to admit. I will share this advice for others trying to do so. The key to succeeding is to be polite to the officer and be prepared to cogently argue facts with him. Abusive comments will get you nowhere fast.

As an attorney, I have sometimes talked to officers who were providing testimony against my clients. Sometimes, these encounters were a bit tense. However, when they realized I was not asking them to change their testimony, but simply to clarify their version of the facts every single officer I have ever spoken too was polite and cooperative. Some have offered details that supported my client's version of a case. I have received favors from kind police officers. Some who could have arrested my witnesses/clients before they could provide testimony in a case waited until after the testimony was given before taking any action. I have had situations where through polite persuasion, I have talked officers into recanting (or taking back) some incriminating details they had previously testified too about my clients. I did so, by simply suggesting that its possible they didn't recall all the details they had observed with 100% clarity.

I cannot speak for everyone out there. I do think that while it should not be so that being white and male counts for something. I think that being white, male, and having professional employment counts for even more than it probably should with important people in society. Yet, I also believe that the police are simply human beings. If you want respect, treat them with respect. Try to view the world through their eyes for a change. Try to imagine the verbal abuse and intimidation that police (particularly a patrolman) takes on a day-to-day basis. Do you think you do that job without getting mad and knocking the crap out of someone at some point? I'm not sure I could. I knew enough about myself to know that I didn't want to try.

If you want to find bad police officers, I'm sure they are out there. You'll find your share of bad doctors, bad plumbers, bad bricklayers, and bad shoe salesmen. That's simply life.
