Police: Girl missing two years escapes captors in Illinois

A neighbor, Lakeitha Smith, told several local TV stations that she saw the girl from time to time outside the house and never witnessed anything that would raise concern.

This girl was reported missing when she was fifteen years old.
I wonder if the neighbor might be using this as an excuse for not getting involved?
I also wonder if the Stockholm Syndrome was in effect.

I wouldn't say the neighbor was "excusing" anything....just saying what she knew....I DO think that the "stockholm syndrome was in effect though....glad she got away.

We talked about this two to three weeks ago here
Teen held captive in home for 2 years.

The situation seems to be messed up on all sides (even the cops seem to be covering their hind ends).

Sorry, it was just posted in the paper and I tried to look for a similar article but did not go so far back. I thought it had just happened.

No need to apologize, I wouldn't care if there were 10 topics about it.

I was just giving you a heads up on the discussion. News is still slower than most people realize in this day and age. My local paper delivers the next day news the night before and it's at least three days old by then. And they want .75 for it!

I'm posted stuff on other forums I though had just happen that were a few years old and thought I was current on stuff!

If you're paying that little for your local newspaper, you must be getting news from the 1970s, so it's slower than you think! Hint: Carter did not get re-elected.
