There was a time that this area was known for maple syrup, ski resorts, gorgeous foliage, Ben & Jerry's and clean living and clean environment. For whatever reason, this area was considered a magical location - different way of life -- laid back, safe, etc.

What is happening in our society, what is happening to people that is bringing out the worst crimes, the most egregious crimes? The more and more I see these horrible stories, the more I wonder if people are truly born without a soul, no less a conscience.

And what kind of punishment is appropriate and/or sufficient that could really make a difference? Is there any? One reads about the advantages of rehabilitation / education -- don't know any more if that works and/or that is the better option as opposed to straight forward incarceration with no frills.

Yes. It is terrible. And these things happen everywhere. Rehabilitation? Prison?

This person is wired wrong. I have no problem with a quick death penalty. But since we don't do anything quickly...I suppose life in prison is sufficient.

Quick reminder: yes, we all know what sort of "punishment" this guy "deserves".
Keep it clean here. Posts that advocate violence will be moderated.

I will be surprised if we aren't taken to task for feeling outrage over this crime or the administration of the justice system. I don't think anyone really wants vigilante justice in this country but I think we all feel that something is terribly wrong that this can happen to a child and the punishment is nothing in comparision to what that child has to endure over their life, if they survive.
I hope they burn the guy, after he is convicted.

Anyone who sexually abuses or rapes a child should be executed! And quickly. They're not worth wasting money on. The depraved cannot be cured.
