Ignore him, he's just trying to get a reaction out of everyone.

Let's face it, decent human beings do not enjoy or condone causing pain to anyone or anything.

It's wrong. It's cruel. Am I outraged? No.

i like people who argue human exceptionalism but then throw down how nature is as cruel and primitive as we are. cant have it both ways. we are on par with a domestic house cat (predator), a wild seal eating a penguin, or we hold ourselves to a bit of a higher standard. i personally carry myself and other humans as a bit more responsible than a wild animal surviving on a limited mammalian brain. i try very hard to avoid people who don't.

Animals do what is their nature. They hunt. People aren't hunters by nature. Humans Torturing any living thing is sick and twisted. I do not care to be around people who would do such a thing nor would I want those people around children.

Take them to the theater at Hermann Park and skin them alive on a Sunday afternoon for all to see. Then burn their bloody, writhing bodies until they turn to a pile of ash, bones, and teeth.

And then let everyone pee on it.

I'm not defending them.... but there's not much difference between that and "animal sacrifices"

BTW.... how is this "Houston's fault"?

Back to topic of "pet abuse"...abusing any animal is twisted.

Definitely a hallmark of a sociopath. These folks should be investigated to see if they killed any people. Many animal abusers went on to be serial killers.

Animal abuse, in any form, is horrible = and sadly, it has been going on for ages. As we know/have read/have learned, many times a child's abuse of an animal is considered a precursor to other violent criminal acts; we know there are truly some pretty sadistic people out there who derive some kind of pleasure [which I simply cannot understand] to harm, mutilate, kill an animal.

Another arena of animal abuse which, until recently, has gone on without much conversation and/or criminal prosecution, is abuse of animals [pets] in cases of domestic violence. Partners have found their pets killed, mutilated, kidnapped, stuffed in mailboxes, on their front steps in pieces -- absolute violent acts -- to 'hurt' their partners.

Maine was the first state, I believe, to pass legislation for Orders of Protection Against Animals/Maine, the second - there are now 22 states which have similar legislation:
Vermont
VT ST T. 15 § 1103; 15 V.S.A. § 1103

Vermont law was amended to allow a court to include an order relating to the possession, care and control of any animal owned, possessed, leased, kept, or held as a pet by either party or a minor child residing in the household in a domestic violence situation.

Violent acts are criminal acts and need to be prosecuted and the offenders need to be punished appropriately. Incarceration perhaps; however, I also think that incarceration does not always 'teach' that offender about all of the consequences of those horrible actions --

Agreed. The poor animals serve as the canary in the mine to warn us about these semi-humans we call sociopaths.

I have no problem with people eating meat, hunting (in a humane way) for food, etc. Cruelty for the sake of cruelty is disgusting.

A poster above mentioned the law in his or her state about pets in divorce cases. I'm going through a rather ugly divorce myself, but I can tell you that neither of us would ever hurt the dog or the cat to get back at one another.
