It may have gotten enough attention in India where attitudes will be changing. I was in Delhi last week - english papers were talking about self-defense courses for women, companies distributing mace to it's female employees, and police gettting prosecuted for not pursuing rape cases.

I think everyone is misclassifying India (after being there 4 times I guess I can judge) - it's a 3rd world country with serious infrastructure and corruption problems. At times it seems there are no laws (particularly on the roads), but it's also developing like crazy, possibly with two cultures bumping into each other. The culture itself is repectful of women. But it's telling that I see very few women walking. It's a man's society, and men in groups do not behave well. On the other hand I have yet to experience any of my female coworkers being harrased, on the other hand they have been polite to the extreme. However, I contrast that with a muslem country like Egypt (been there twice). Now, there, I would not suggest any women go out unescorted and/or even escorted. They will be harrased. And yes it is part of their culture, with none of the hindu/indian moderation to at least curb it.

Rapists sentenced to death today. The juvenile gets three years.

I am good with it. Suggest death penalty for all rapists, especially when the victim dies from brutal internal injuries.

Yeah. I don't like the death penalty. There are cases in which people on death row have been proven innocent, but in rape cases in which there is no doubt whatsoever, and where there is such brutality, sure, no problem.

Default They all should be hanged

I'm all for the death penalty. All the rapists here (including the juvenile), should've been hanged IMMEDIATELY after sentencing.

Just a bunch of ignorant savages who did an unspeakable act to that poor woman.
