I was doing some research and found this interesting link from the New Haven Register [CT]. It was fascinating -- formerly from the New Haven area, I learned about some cases that I had never known about including Amistad
- certainly I am familiar with the story [although I admit I did not see the movie and now I know I have to do so] - I did not realize it took place in New Haven; I did not know that there had been a witchcraft trial case either [well, vaguely maybe]; I did not realize the Malley case [but certainly I knew the famous retail store]; The Black Panther Trials -we all knew that one, especially having the National Guard peppered throughout New Haven, and especially around the New Haven Green [across from the federal courthouse] and having to deal w/a curfew; I well remember the Montano murders [that was horrible] and recently learned that there is an appeal going on re: DNA; Griswold/Buxton I recall as no doubt many others do as well:
Top 10 Trials of All Time in New Haven: On eve of Cheshire Petit murder trial a look back at some notorious cases- The New Haven Register - Serving New Haven, Connecticut

The other case/trial and conviction that I am surprised is not in this top 10 list was the Lorne Acquin case: Lorne Acquin | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderers
I remember this one very well.
