At that age most teenagers have been exposed to sex and pornography. His sex views were already formed and he probably had already had some kind of sex like most regular teenage boys.

The whole "Jodi introduced him to sex" is BS in my opinion That is just the media vilifying women for having sex, not a very new concept if you ask me The media knows what sells, they are not stupid. It seems like the only person in history who didn't like to stone "prostitutes" was Jesus. I don't think Travis was torn between religious beliefs, during his conversations with Jodi he never mentioned his faith or morality, he always spoke like the average liberal Californian among friends. It seems like the whole mormon thing was just like a job for him. Mormon teachings were the used cars he sold for a living.

Travis was just the typical american misogynist. He wanted to sex all women but wanted to find a "pure" woman for marriage. He had no problems at all with cheating on his girlfriends and demeaning women calling them sluts and such. His phone conversations, texts and twitter comments reflect that.

About the pedophelia claims. I think he was just more deviant than average and so was Jodi for continuing having sex with Travis after he made the 12 year old comment. I think he was just that the type that eventually would travel to a third wild country and pay to have sex with an underage girl. It doesn't seem he was attracted to young boys, I think Jodi made that up. The thought probably crossed her mind when Travis told her he sounded sexy but yet she chose to continue to have sex with a sexual deviant.
Travis lived with his grandmother in California and she was a member of the LDS church. He joined the Mormon church at 16 years old. When he graduated from high school at 18, Alexander served an LDS mission in Denver, Colorado, from the summer of 1996 to September 1998. In 2004, he purchased the home in which he died in Mesa, Arizona. He reportedly moved to Mesa due to a strong LDS community.

Yes both his parents are dead and were meth addicts. They lived in California from hither to yon until his grandmother Norma Jean took them in. Alexander was writing a book about his childhood but never got to complete his work. You can read here the intro to "Raising You" by Travis Alexander.

Jodi was never abused a day in her life! If you believe otherwise then you are buying into all of her manipulation, calculation and deceit. No stoning or lynching from me...just pity.
Yes, it is a pity when Travis Alexander is not here to defend himself against all these horrible things Arias said about him. He is no saint, not one person on this forum has said Alexander was a saint.

Unknown to him she recorded his conversations and got off on the dirty talking phone sex herself. Why did she record them??? ... did she plan to use them against him with his Bishop or all his friends? It was just another Arias Plan she was putting in place in her psycho mind. Travis Alexander did not realize just how evil Arias was or how far she was willing to go to keep him for herself.

Yes, Travis was like a male dog when he sniffs a female dog in heat and Arias turned it on full blast for him. If only he was here to tell his side of this story ... but he is dead, the victim of a slaughter by Jodi Arias.

I doubt that very many of us are saints. In a great many murders there is a sub-plot where the victim was less than perfect. But that does not and cannot excuse pre-meditated murder.

We are seeing one of the ugly sides of human nature here ... a fascination with the seedy details of a sexual relationship. But, as has been pointed out, we are only getting one side of it because the victim isn't here to defend himself.

Sometimes we need to take a step back and remind ourselves of what we have here. A brutal murder where the perpetrator is trying to muddy the waters in a bid to mitigate the awfulness of her crime.

Absolutely.

Good post Jaggy ... I don't know any saints and I am certainly not one.

You are right this has exposed us to a very ugly side of human nature and we have trouble conceiving of how something like this could happen. In addition we are only hearing one side which brings about questions of ... why?

Not true. We have heard plenty of both sides

No one here is saying Jodi is innocent or that she didn't commit a horrifific act. Alexander acted wrong and paid a very high price for it. This can happen to anyone and this is what most people can take from this case. I think Travis was not only a victim of Jodi but a victim of society's sexist attitudes.

We teach our boys to be macho men, feelings as for sissy boys, to be aggressive and to score as many sluts as they can. The more women they belittle and use, the higher the position in society. This misogynist attitude not only hurts women but it also hurts men because they are unable to create healthy relationships with women. It's great when men are in their 20's but eventually society expect them to get married and create a family. The problem is that for some men if sex is not demeaning then is not that exciting because that is what the porn industry and hollywood has fed them all their lives. Travis didn't have a good mother figure, the Alexanders practically were feral kids that had little guidance in life.

The other unfortunate consequence is that women's egos get hurt in the process and some will respond with violence(Jodi), destroying marriages or careers or some simply just walk away hurt and resentful. The odds of finding a Jodi are small but they are out there.

Wow, eerie that today is the anniversary of his death. It didn't dawn on me till I saw that post. Just imagine what was going on in his house at this hour 5 years ago.

Yes it is eerie and so sad. A life lost five years ago today. I thought of Travis and the horror he went through and his family what they have been through recently.

There seem to be some indications that life might be on the table. Everyone is afraid that the Judge would convert that to out in 20 years, but I don't think this Judge would do that. She sat through it all and I bet she was as happy as anyone to see a guilty verdict. She would have to go with LWOP.

As I have mentioned earlier, I really feel it would be best for the entire family and friends of Travis to just shut the door on this chapter of their lives and start to heal and move on. Take comfort in the fact JA will be penned up in a box with the likes of that Angela chick until she dies, which would be worse than hell in a lot of respects. Time for this family to start living again.
