Thanks for update. Jodi probably not too happy she won't be in the public eye....fading out of the media...at some point, she'll probably stage a drama to gain the attention again.

Be glad your HLN viewing is limited... she can't possibly be as annoying via a newsfeed as she is on live TV.

It has been so nice not to have her on TV or having to look at Nancy Grace or those other news greedy personalities trying to make something out of nothing. I just want JA to go away into oblivion.

Well, next week is a significant week in the trial.

A Settlement Conference set for Oct. 24. The conference will be made in front of retired Maricopa County Superior Court Judge James Keppel.

So far, neither side has presented an outline of an agreement or an official position to the court

There are 3 sentencing options: death, natural life in prison, or life with a chance of release after 25 years. Under State law, Juan would have to get permission to get a jury in order to get the death penalty. This would incur several months of expense and another judicial circus.

They do not need a jury or an agreement from Jodi to get a life sentence; all they need to do is drop the intent to seek the death penalty and the decision would then go to Judge Sherry.

Jodi's attorneys have made a careful record alleging court and prosecutor errors, so it seems unlikely to me that Jodi will agree to wave her appeals in exchange for a life-sentence.

It will be very interesting to see how this battle unfolds, seems to me to be a battle of wills.

Well, for any of the 'legal eagles' who have a long attention span and are truly following this case (not just because it was the 'sex/murder drama of the month' on HNL..)...the settlement hearing today (closed to the public and media) resulted in 'no agreement had been reached'. This means no deal. Juan gets his jury to do this again and go for DP.

Other updates of possible interests, Jodi filed motions in Maricopa County Superior Court Tuesday to fire her main defense attorney (Kirk Nurmi).Jodi wrote that Kirk has an “utter poverty of people skills,” and “has little to no tolerance for my emotional and psychological shortcomings.”.

Apparently she only talked good things about Jennifer Willmott, who she said bore the bunt of most the work in the case.

By now I couldn't care if she gets life without parole and they trow away the key...as long as she can't benefit and can't conduct any interviews or write books!
