There was an interesting article in the Arizona Republic about how this case got blown up by the media...HLN in particular. HLN's ratings are up 50% compared to last year due to the Arias coverage.

Arias trial: Sex, violence, intrigue were recipe for national interest

There hasn't been a peep from the Sheriff's office explaining why they ok'd the interview. All I can think of is that they want to give her enough rope to hang herself with (figuratively if not literally...lol!). I do NOT think her lawyers were ok with it at all. But she may have given JM a gift because she certainly didn't paint herself in a sympathetic light at all. JM will not hesitate to use her own words against her.

I have to admit I was wrong about Juan Martinez' style in the courtroom. When I first saw his pitbull approach to cross examining every witness I was certain he was going to turn the jury against him and we would see JA walk free. I couldn't have been more wrong. I think it was Beth on HLN who said "He kinda grows on you" and that was the case it seems. I don't think I have ever seen a prosecutor with as much passion and anger toward a defendant as Juan. It seems he takes the death of the victim very personally, which is good, someone has to speak up for them.

There was no evidence to indicate that TA abused JA. It does not matter what my opinion is - there was simply no proof of it. There was also no proof that he was a pedophile.

BUT, if there had been some indication that he had in one or more occasions used physical force ( ie, hitting, punching , slapping but not a documented threat to her life), or if TA actually had photos (not child porn) of children in his possession, would you or would you not still support the first degree murder charge for Jodi?

I certainly would! It was proven that she planned for the attack, did more then simply protect herself from a supposed attack, attempted to cover her tracks and lied to protect herself. Whether he was abusive or not, or whether he was a pedophile was never relevant.
No because it was obviously not a case of self defense when you plan a murder for over a week and drive literally a thousand miles. She should get the DP in my opinion

I think though Travis used very strong language with Jodi. I personally would not speak to a man who treated a woman like that. As dislikable as Jodi is, I was very appalled by the names he called Jodi. Very strong language that would make any woman very upset, especially coming from a man you slept with.

Travis didn't abuse her. End of story.

I don't believe for a second Travis abused her. He may have insulted her, sure, but that doesn't equate to abuse. Jodi lied twice about this and she's the only person who says that Travis abused her. What she did to him is reprehensible and vile with no compassion or remorse.

I've had faith in Juan ever since I found out he was the same prosecutor that handled several other high-profile cases in Phoenix. He's gotten convictions without any physical evidence...I think he's only lost one case in close to 30 years. Also, when Det. Flores interrogated JA, he told her something like "I've worked with this prosecutor and he is very good at what he does...you need to tell me the truth because if you let this prosecutor paint the picture, it will not be good." She should have heeded his words, not that her ego would have let her.

This case has turned him into a rock star of sorts, but it isn't by his own doing, contrary to what Nurmi tried to say in court. He's a very private person who happened to get ambushed by fans outside the courthouse one day when cameras were rolling. He's extremely dedicated, has a mind like a steel trap and a great sense of humor. I am a fan of his on Facebook and there are tons of women after him...too bad he's taken.

Dr. DeMarte stated that out of over 80,000 text exchanges between them, only a tiny handful were of this nature. You have to look at it in context...these were sent after she taped them having phone sex. She might have tried to blackmail him with it. Travis was becoming aware of many other lies she had told...she broke into his Facebook account, and possibly others as well. She was causing major problems in his life with her stalking behavior. Most people would be livid and he may have thought that saying hurtful things might be the only way to get her to finally leave him alone.

As much as we older folks don't like it, younger people today speak differently than we did. I still can't bring myself to use certain words in front of a female, even if she is using the same words herself.......I was just brought up differently. As an example, one day I was in the grocery store and I heard this string of 4 letter words coming from two girls who were shopping behind me, when I turned around they must have been all of 15 and every other word was F this and F that. I almost said something, but it wouldn't have done any good, I'm sure.

My point is that in Travis' age group the words that he was saying are probably pretty common, and it goes back to something I said many posts ago. A man will only use the language the female he is speaking to will permit. If Jodi had said "I don't like to hear those words, do not use them around me" the conversation would have been much different. But Jodi was right in there with him, using the same language and encouraging more of it.

They mutually broke up in June of 2007 ... to date other people ... Travis started seeing other girls ... remember Arias peeping in the window at him with another girl ... the tire slashing ... hiding behind the Christmas tree ... so many things she would not let go.

I think Travis handled these things trying to be nice since the break-up ... didn't call the cops and report the peeping tomasina ... didn't call the cops when the tires were slashed but he finally realized being nice wasn't going to do the trick. So he blew it and came down on her hard with the bad name calling. It probably seemed to him that was the only way to finally get rid of her.

Travis Alexander's blog is still online ... he was in the process of writing a book, "Raising You" on down in the blog May 2008.

Travis Alexander's Being Better Blog

His My Space site is still up:

Travis on Myspace

Arias still has a My Space:

Jodi Arias on Myspace

I would think they both left My Space and entered the world of Facebook.
