Wow, if this is what he comes up with at 11, I wonder what'll happen when his imagination is running at full steam later on!?

bad move on his part but given the details of this story the kid is intelligent and might grow up to be very successful if this remains a one time thing. He knew to fake static, Shows good attention to detail and a fast thinking mind. Don't get me wrong he deserves a scolding but just saying.

Why do you think he was soooo terrified about his teacher and parents meeting? He's obviously already had a LOT of "butt kicking", and probably a lot more as well...why else would he be so terrified of his parents that he's do something crazy like he did? I feel veeeery sad for this child.

That's what I was thinking, why is he so afraid of his parents that he'd do this??? You can bet there are others wondering the same thing. Lets hope it helps.

You people are trying to apply rational thought to what an 11 year old would do? By your logic, wouldn't he be MORE afraid of faking his own kidnapping since it will lead to greater consequences?

Kids are stupid, they do stupid stuff. Simple as that.

I agree. My ex told me horror stories , he is Hispanic, and had several racist teachers, who were telling his Father how bad he behaved. And then, when he got home, he was beaten.

This is a messed up dynamic.

Well, messed up or not, it's meant to instill a fear of and respect for authority. They're not just doing it to terrorize the poor kid. Every single parent who raises his kids that way will tell you the same thing: "I was raised that way, and it never hurt me. Blink, twitch."
